You think? Teal was the Grant Hill horsepower era. They were entertaining if not insurmountable. Grant Hill, Dominating @ 15 years old , Video | NESW Sports, Sports Videos Two of the defining moments in the recent history of the Pistons took place when the teal jersey was in play, the drafting of Grant Hill and the midnight exit of Grant Hill. I have a framed Hill "horsepower" Jersey hanging on the wall. (don't tell anyone)
So the only common denominator is the word "Detroit" on the chest. I'm there too. Living in a different city makes me realize how impossible it is for me to really root for another city's teams.
Really? I would have thought with the Internet it would be easy. I have experience with this (I root for like 5 teams that aren't in Detroit) and it hasn't been difficult. Forums and RSS Feeds help a lot!!
I just mean that even though I'm living in Chicago and have been for 10 years now, I just don't find myself having any feelings for the Cubs, Sox, Bulls, Hawks, or Bears. When they are on a roll and the whole city is hype about them, I'll get swept up in it a bit and go to the bar to watch a big game, etc... but when they lose, I just don't feel any emotions. The teams that you root for when you are around 8 years old just seem to be imprinted on you.
It's true. I lived in Vancouver, Calgary and I never got into the teams. In fact, I got a bunch of my buddies to become Detroit Lions and Pistons fans because they didn't have basketball or football teams for their towns.
Fosho TaS! It's made a little easier for me in Denver due to what I call the "Aves factor". I could NEVER root for the Avalanche and because so many Aves fans cross over to the other pro sports here, it makes it pretty simple for me to be detached. I admit that I do pull for Chauncey but I couldn't become even a casual Nuggets fan unless they traded/released the likes of Melo, K-Mart, JR Smith, etc. Thanks to NBALP and PF.Com I don't have to!
