Great comeback win by Michigan who trailed by twelve 51-39 and finished the game on a 21-4 run. They face OSU tomorrow and even a loss there to the #1 team still gets them in to the big dance...
Awesome. I'm rooting for a win, or at the very least, a loss. How about Tommy Amaker by the way? Doing well.
Re: Michigan-Michigan State Mens basketball 2010-2011 Hate to use excuses but the OSU-MI game turned at the 9:07 mark (with OSU leading 47-45) when the officials called a ball out of play on the Wolverines when it was off Sullinger and then he scores on the ensuing play. On the next Buckeye offensive play, Sullinger commits what appears to be an offensive foul and its called as block on Hardaway Jr. and Sully knocks down the two FT's The young Wolverines lose their poise then and the Buckeyes turn the two pt lead and two officials miscues into a 16-0 run over the next 4 mins... Michigan's 13-0 run in the last two minutes of the game was a little to late in the game to make a difference, but I think they still sneak into the big dance with a 20-13 record and probably get a 11 or 12 seed. The refs and the announcers validated Sullingers big 10 player of the year rep. OSU wins 68-61
Re: Michigan-Michigan State Mens basketball 2010-2011 Yeah, that's too bad. I was rooting for them. 20-13 in the Big Ten , I'd be very surprised if they don't make it. They deserve to be there. Rivals has them in. Rivals.com College Basketball - Huguenin: Projecting the NCAA field of 68 I hope Sparty gets by Penn State.
Spartans jump off hot, but cool down and then come out flat like the Wolverines to start the second and then never recover...Penn State looks good..wonder if they suprise the Buckeyes with an upset win? Either way, Penn State who finished 9-9 in the regular confernce tied with the Spartans, Wolverines and Illini, are definitely in IMO with with Illinois now on the bubble.. Buckeyes, Badgers, Boilermakers are definitely in of course, and the Wolverines the only other big 10 team to get 20 wins is in....so it is between the Illini and the Spartans ...can sparty get in with a 19-14 record?? Maybe their rep will work in this case?? Or will the NCAA take 7 Big 10 teams?
The latest projections say: Rivals.com College Basketball - Huguenin: Projecting the NCAA field of 68
Don't forget about the Fab Five special on ESPN tonight...9 EDT, and 6 PDT One of my FB friends went to the screening yesterday in Ann Arbor and said it was great.
Hate to quote myself, but this was one ESPN's greatest pieces... To C-Webb, you got nothing to apologize for...without you, the M marketing machine would have never made that $10.2 mil in 1993 and countless millions since... Like Mitch Albom said, if he got the money..he must have buried it until he left. Just wonder if the NCAA will come down on the OSU players and coach like M did to Fisher, Mo Taylor, Louis Bullok, C Webb and Tractor Traylor??
I really liked Fab Five. People tend to dismiss them..."they never won anything"...or whining about the Ed Martin stuff...but this was a group of teenagers who pushed themselves to the center stage of college basketball.
I'd have liked them more if they woulda wore white socks. Tube socks with three gold stripes at the top.
Chris Webber lied to a grand jury and then turned on Ed Martin to try to cover his butt. It was interesting that none of his teammates backed him up in this ESPN piece. They all just want CWebb to come clean.
With Duke a second round matchup..M's tourney hopes will end early...maybe even in the first round vs Tennessee MSU may not survive the first round vs UCLA Oakland will have a difficult time getting by Texas....so this may be the last game center Keith Benson gets to show case his skills in a real game.
The Fab Five was a GREAT documentary. I learned so many things I never knew while watching them as a kid. I do remember trying to wear baggy shorts and black socks and shoes while I played in Detroit PAL basketball. They had a tremendous influence on me as a kid. The Ohio State *uckeyes! :D
I haven't seen Oakland much this year. Can Benson play center at the NBA level? He could be an early 2nd rounder.
I think he is projected in the mock drafts at 43.....the question is playing at Oakland how many games/schools did he play against potential NBA types? The good thing is he stayed thru his senior year to get as much training possible. If Joe is able to get what he wants in the first round, and someone else's first round pick, I may take a look at him in the second round at pick 36 or 37...
