Yeah even Vern Lundquist questioned it???
It's rumored that Spartan fans plan to storm the court at Crisler after Izzo's guys thump the Wolvies on Jan 26...just to mock that silly display today
Spartans BARELY edged Minnesota by a point earlier today. Whew.
U of M will have their work cut out for them at Purdue shortly. Then they play Sparty in a couple days.
Np such thing as a bad road win. Barely or not. Theres no wayMsu shouldnt go 15-3 minimum in the 11. They will finish 23-6 and get a Number one seed if they make it to Big 11 finals.
U of M lost by 10 to Purdue...but what the hell is this???
"Michigan guard Manny Harris, the conference’s top scorer, was suspended for what his coach described as an act of unsportsmanlike conduct during practice on Friday. The team did not release details of the conduct."
Probably more like he elbowed a teammate in the head or something, I'm guessing. If it was a fight I think both guys maybe get nothing.
At 10-9, the Wolverines would have to run the table or win the big 10 championship to get into the big dance.
Leaving Manny at home took some balz by Bieline, so it must have been serious and to teach him the proverbial lesson.....in kids terms that means Manny got a time out
That was a tough game. Minny outplayed them badly through the first half and start of the 2nd. Morgan went out of the game early in the 2nd with 4 fouls and State went down by 13. They fought their way back some and then Morgan returned to the game with about 6 minutes left and made some great plays. State really tightened the D toward the end. Great win.
I'm sure it'll be just that one game...no way Beilein holds him out of Tuesday's game.
Once the Spartans got back to within five at 60-55, with a little less than 4 minutes to go, I just knew they were going to make the full comeback and win. You could see the body language on the gophers as the game was slipping away.
But the Gophers were able to at least get a shot off when they were down one point, compared to how the Pistons handled their opportunity and threw it away...
Manny to apologize
Halftime: Michigan 27- MSU 25
10 turnovers for the Spartans and the Wolverines have 15 pts off the turnovers, but what would the score be if they drove to the hoop for the and 1 opportunities instead tossing up 14 three pointers?? (2-14), There were at least two instances where there was not a Spartan player within 10 ft of the hoop and a Wolverine still shot a three ball.
That Zack Novak will not shoot inside the three to save his life...and when he does, he gets blocked.. I am certain that he shot at least 6 of those 14 three balls him self.
Meanwhile the Spartans continue to do it the right way by pounding it inside. If MSU could hit a few three balls themselves, they will win this game.
Yikes. I forgot the game was today. Thanks for the reminder, Dre.
Michigan had a 23-16 lead at one point with just under 4 mins left in the half, but tried to blow it open by tossing up 3 ill advised threes in a row....that all missed.
Final score MSU 57-Mich 56
Michigan loses because their penchant for the three ball...two straight possessions where a Michigan man took a three point shot instead and that resulted in an air ball instead of positioning themselves for hi percentage two point bucket like the Spartans did on Lucas' game winner.
Nice play in the end to Sims, but it came up short....and without enough refs out there, the jersey hold does not get called.
The Wolverines were 7 for 31 from beyond the arc and 12 for 26 from two point range. and 333% overall. Novak was 2-9 shooting and just killed them everytime he shot the rock
Michigan now 10-10 and I don't see them going to the big dance at all......unless they go undefeated the rest of the season.
Even fabfivers jalen rose and Jimmy King could not even give the Wolverines any luck although Rose's red sports jacket may have cursed them..
5th rank Michigan State stays undefeated in the Big 10 and improves 18-3 overall
U of M certainly gave the Spartans all they could handle...and then some. Tough loss for the Wolverines.
Whew! Too close for comfort. Good to see MSU pulling out the close ones.
Because Izzo is a great coach (are you reading this Dumars) who knows what plays to call and how to keep his players disciplined to pull out these squeakers. With a game this close, you knew whom was going win.
The Wolverines are talented enough to give any team a tussle, but you would think that Beiline would have more control on when to corral them in to stop shooting the three ball.
They are undersized so normally only Sims and Harris go to the rim, but even those two take to many threes IMO....why a team averages 30+ three balls attempts a game is beyond me...especially when they have played 20 games only average 5 or 6 makes. You would think those little guards, Douglass and Novak would start going to the hoop to practice their FT shooting, but nope, both of them average about 7 three ball attempts a game and less than one FTA a game....
They don't get any closer. It was kinda like watching a rerun of the Minnesota game...UM out-played State in the first half, then Izzo's boys pulled it together to edge out the win.

MSU at home vs. Northwestern
U of M at home vs. Iowa
Both games are very winnable for the home teams. We shall see.
