In case you didn't see it, here is the non defense Michigan decided to to deploy on player of the year candidate Evan Turner and #1 seed Ohio state when they had a 2 point lead with 2.2 seconds left in the game (turn volume down)

MSU comes back to tie the game to force OT, but then miss 7 free throws in the OT to lose to Minnesota 72-67.

Unlike Michigan, they still will go to the tournament, but they gave the Gophers a chance to get to the big dance too if they win their next two games despite their 20 point blowout loss to the Wolverines last Sunday.

The Spartans will have to practice their FT shooting if they hope to win these close ones in the tournament.

They have about a week; maybe 1000 FT's each, and still practice a few plays.

    Go time, Sparty.

    POW POW POW!

If we make it to the Final Four, I think I will be making that drive to Indy. Can't believe this team has made i this far, the "bracket of doom" has gotten surprisingly easier each round.

Saginaw's own Draymond Green has really been huge for Sparty. Korie Lucious has done a great job filling in for Kalin Lucas.

I hope they make it past Tennessee.

    I like it!

Maybe this should go in the March Madness thread, but West Virginia held the Kentucky Wildcats to 28 points at halftime.

Glad to see MSU in the Final Four.
The game coach gets all the credit.
He gets the most out of his quality players.
My prediction was a little off though...sorry.
Now we can make the PF green...:):)

I think Izzo may be the best coach in college. Not to take anything away from the talent of these kids, but they played together beautifully. A real team effort. I think they have a good shot at the finals!

I wonder if we can pick up Summers or Green later in the draft. I haven't seen their names mentioned at all in NBA talk.

    Thanks for that link!

Interesting to look at next years projections. I'm sure a lot can change over a season. Also interesting that K. Lucas is about 4 or 5 slots behind D. Summers. I thought it would be the other way around.

Oregon already throwing in the distraction factor by offering Izzo the largest contract ever

Michigan State coach Tom Izzo: 'I'm happy with the job I have' | - MLive.com

First of all Izzo is not going anywhere unless Joe makes him offer he can't refuse, so why can't Oregon keep their thoughts to themselves until after the tournament.'

I forgot to add to my last post, but I think Manny harris would be better served staying at Michigan one more year and being one of the top 10 picks next year.....unless he thinks Beiline will stunt his growth...which based on the wolves play the past couple of the seasons I might be inclined to say yes he has...:sssh:

Harris is slotted to go as a 2nd rounder in 2011. I wonder where he would get picked this year.

Lucas would probably be ahead of Summers if not for the Achilles injury.

The play in which Lucas got injured was weird. It looked completely normal as he was transitioning to go back down the floor...then it popped.

Does Lucas and his skill set translate to the NBA playing style or not? You see guys like Cleaves not have success and guys like Lawson who could possibly make an impact.

Tell me about it, i snapped mine when i dribbled past my defender and was about to make a lay up. POPPED! To add salt into wound, I have plantar fasciitis as well and I'm not even 150 lbs and I'm 5'11".

All David Beckham was trying to dribble the ball without pressure from his defender and POPPED! There goes his chance in playing in the World Cup in South Africa.

Maybe, maybe not. Some guys take to the NBA well and others don't. Then, there's guys like Billups that didn't catch fire until 5 years into his career :noidea:

IMO, how well college PG's are able to adapt to the NBA shot clock and 3pt line are big factors on how successful they will be :noidea:

Lucas is a better 3pt shooter than Cleaves was from the college line. He's much quicker than Cleaves was. Cleaves was a better distributor and maybe a slightly better defender. Cleaves is built more like Billups and Lucas is built more like Chris Paul. Again :noidea:

Whether Lucas opts for the draft or not, I hope he heals well.
