    Nazr's not happy - A. Sherrod Blakely

Nazr Mohammed is not a trouble-maker. He's a quiet, low-key kind of guy whose demeanor fits in well with this Detroit Pistons team.

But there is something very wrong right now, something that could easily blow up in Detroit's face if it's not corrected.

Detroit wants to keep on winning.

    Mohammed wants to play more.

    ................

Again, it's not a major problem now. But based on Mohammed's tone following Saturday's victory, you have to wonder how much longer is he going to put up with having his minutes yanked around like a yo-yo?

Hey, following recent trends, one article has been written on the subject.

NAZR: Officially the New Pistons Malcontent.

I'm cool with giving him more time. I think that Sheed just has to be the help defender and not count on Nazr to do it.

    Stop it!
If he is getting starter pay give him the chance to be a starter.
If he fails then "can" him. We've seen the unproportional drop off in production when a guys minutes are cut.
Remember he is our no BBeen.

How many more players can Flip P-off before he's fired?

And how long before CB, Flip, Rip, Tay, and Sheed become our new starting lineup?

And who demands a trade 2nd (obviously Delfino will be 1st), Amir, Nazr, or JMax?

    I'll say Nazr 2nd.

I can also see Davis and Dupree in there somewhere as well.

I think Amir, Blalock and Hunter would be the 3 least likely.

i wouldn't mind nazr getting more minutes. besides some botched plays, he has been effective given the amount of minutes he's received.

    HA HA HA:pound: :pound: :pound:

Nazr rides the pine because he is so so slooooooow. Why do you think Flip has went to the smaller line ups.? It is because opposing teams drive the lane at will when Nazr is in there. He has poor basketball IQ and is slow to react to ball movement . :nerd2: He can't be blames fully for this however because the guards allow opponents to drive past them and cut to the basket.

He's gotta earn those minutes! Stop whining, and start playing better in the opportunities he gets!

So how slow is he? Slower than a locomotive starting on grease?

The only guy who should be angry is J Max.

i don't think anybody should be angry or complain because in the pistons organization, nobody is responsible for deciding how many minutes anybody plays.

it happens magically: if you play a certain way you are automatically teleported onto the floor for minutes. if you don't play that way you are automatically affixed to the bench.

Nazr is getting even less minutes now than he did when that article came out. I can see this getting ugly.

If Nazr really wants to play more, perhaps he should familiarize himself with the concept of boxing out on the defensive glass. How in the hell can you play center in the NBA and not box out on defense? I've actually seen him move out of the way so that the offensive player had a clearer path to the rim.
If you can't compete for minutes with 37 year old Dale Davis then maybe your game needs work.

    Sadly it is true.

I'm really surprised we gave Nazr such a long guaranteed deal.

It seems to me like he usually goes out of the game after his 2nd foul with about 8:00 left in the first quarter. Then he checks back in in the mid 2nd and picks up his 3rd. Then he never really gets back into it and we take the lead while he is on the bench.

By the way, how statistically improbable is this?

    CB +16.7
    Rip +10.3
    Tay +5.6
    Sheed +4.1
    Nazr -6.6

Nazr plays primarily with the starters, so his +/- should be highly correlated to theirs. Tay and Sheed play a lot with the bench, so it is understandable that theirs should be dragged down a bit. How bad is Nazr to have a +/- rating that is 10 points below the next starter? I bet this is the biggest differential in the NBA between the 4th and 5th starter on a team.
