I'm intrigued by the poor man's zen meister who can't speak english. Seems like a smart move by JD to show he really knows his stuff.

I liked Nate a few years back and thought he would have been better fit than Flip, but alas it appeared the Flip was already on the payroll before LB exited. Now however I see that his career W-L stats is just a tad over .500.....I am not so sure.

I appreciate the quick move to hire a candidate, but there is got to be a third person out there other than these two...I mean at least tell us that you considered Laimbeer and he turned you down....

I'm intrigued by the idea of the foreign guy using a computer to help them compete. That's how you lure the big time FA's.

Upon further review, is this writer insinuating that this guy is going to use some sort of robot-player to improve the team? Is that why they're talking about how the computer fits under the cap?

How do we know he can't speak English?

I would love this hire the way people like watching a train wreck.

I'm to lazy to look it up so I'm not sure the answer.... If he is 2-8 as an 8 seed then thats expected... if your .500 as a playoff coach when your a top 4 seed then thats not good enough.

Taking a closer look at McMillan.

Things I like. He played for my favorite coach of all-time, Jimmy Valvano at NC State; and Mike Kryzewski hand-picked him as an assistant coach for the US National Team (he knows a little bit about basketball). Seattle made the WCF in his last season there, after not making the playoffs in three of his first four seasons there; and Portland made the playoffs in his last three seasons there, after not making the playoffs in his first three seasons there (and that locker room was a real mess before he got there, remember the Jail Blazers?) - - - so, his teams have all improved, at least to some extent. Seattle didn't fire him, he moved on; and Portland fired him as part of a whole-sale house-cleaning, where their reputable GM was fired as well. Defense was the name of his game as an NBA player: 2-time All-NBA Defense Second Team and NBA Steals Leader in 1994 in limited minutes (12 year career in Seattle, his number is retired).

He's a former NBA player, an experienced NBA head coach, and he's black. Pretend that means nothing all you want, but in today's NBA, that's a recipe for player respect.

I still prefer Sloan, perhaps even the European Phil Jackson, but this would be a better hire, IMO, than Flip, Curry, Kuester or Frank.

Taking a closer look at Obradovic.

First thing that stands out is that he served 2 years in prison for killing a pedestrian at the wheel, sort of the beginning of the end of his playing career. No alcohol or anything, just an accident.

Not much to know about him other than his accomplishments. 8 Euro League Titles with 4 different teams (perhaps not talent-driven championships, then). Professional European basketball is a different game than the NBA, but it's still a higher level of basketball than NCAA basketball, and if there was an NCAA coach who had won 8 championships with 4 different teams.. he'd be by far the hottest-coaching candidate in the NBA. *Might give us a bit of an edge in the emerging European talent scouting market as well.

At this point, I am in favor of just hiring both of them.....with Nate's NBA experience give him the HC job and let him exert some of his defensive skill sets on our team.

Hire Zelly.2 also as the lead assistant to allow him to transition into the NBA style of coaching...maybe he is inherits the job from Nate later..

If they could co-exist, it's not such a bad idea. After all, this Zelly guy is out of work anyway.

Hire both of them. Toss both guys into a giant vat of jello. Have them battle it out american gladiator style while MC Hammer performs U Can't Touch This. The loser gets the job. The winner gets paid to criticise the franchise with Jeffy.

Zeljko Obradovic is a pretty common name. You sure it was him?

Have you ever watched any of those videos from Russian dashboard cameras? Everyone has a camera there because insurance fraud is so rampant. Based on what I've seen, not having run over a pedestrian or two is what would make you unique.
