Hey folks, thought I'd let you in on something cool.

A while back when I was first registering the trial league I noticed another offering by NBA.com called the Premier Fantasy Championship. This is a league where the best fantasy basketball minds in the world get together to duke it out and determine who is the greatest. Over 9,000 people would submit entries and compete for 30 spots. Selections would be determined based on essay and prior success in fantasy basketball competitions. Yes, they even requested information so that they could validate your performance. Unfortunately, I did not make the cut. I was however chosen to be one of the 360 entries assigned to the Premier Fantasy Championship D-League.

    Here's how it works:

Each NBA team in the Premier League is represented by a GM. Every month the performances of the GMs in the Premier League will be evaluated and any GM with a losing record will be eligible to be voted off by the other GMs in the Premier League. Once a GM is voted off, their team becomes available and the GM that sports the best record for that team's development league affilate becomes the new team owner. Each NBA team has a D-League affiliate league that is comprised of 12 teams. Currently, I've been assigned to the Pistons D-League where I compete against 11 other teams as the Sioux Falls Skyforce. So basically, I'm hoping that the current Detroit Pistons owner gets voted off so that I will have an opportunity to be a part of the 30 owners. Make any sense?

If I do not get an opportunity to replace the current Detroit Pistons owner, all is not lost. The top 26 winners of the D-League affiliate leauges will automatically have a spot in the elite 30 next year. The other 4 spots will be awarded to the top 4 GMs from this year's elite 30.

If I've confused the hell outta you I apologize. lol.

I'll be updating the forum as I pursue my dream to be World Champion. Wish me luck. :)

Wow, this fantasy stuff really is getting serious these days. What about prize money? I've heard of kids in japan making money off playing video games as a full time job, so what about fantasy bball?

    Good luck Mo.

There are a lot of professional gamers in this world Web. With endorsements, their own branded goods etc.

I can't seem to track down what the winner gets. So far it looks like they get inducted into the first NBA.Com Fantasy Basketball Hall of Fame. I'll let you know when I find out more info.

I'm happy you will be focusing a league that you actually have a chance winning. It was really pointless for you to invest much time into competing with me. :)

in Korea they don't have traditional sports. starcraft is like the national sport, and the best players not only make tons of money, they're treated like hollywood celebrities are treated in america.

in the US, there is 'professional gaming' to some degree, but very few can make a living off of it, and even then they're not making much. to see an example of what i mean visit GotFrag eSports - Competitive Gaming News, Features, Movies, Content and Community - that's a site i work for (and check out the part i made w/statistics @ GotFrag eSports - GameSense 2 Beta - Home)

not to hijack the thread...just giving a sidenote to webz :O

Wow congrats Mo. But you just made the bullseye on your back even bigger. Someone who is good enough to be 1 phone call away from the premier league should have no problem with our lowly Trial League.

I don't win all of the time, just most of the time. ..and trust me, I'm just as worried about the competition here as I am in the Premier League. There are so many factors that go into winning a fantasy bball league. That said, you should still be prepared to get a whippin'. I am determined to be PF.com champ. :)

    Okay here is an update.

We are entering the final two rounds of the email draft that has lasted almost two weeks. To call this an exercise in patience would be an understatement. Essentially each team, which can be anywhere in the world was given 10 hours to make a draft pick. Noticing that little progress was being made, a little over a week ago they changed the time to 5 hours. So far I think I've done pretty well.

    Here are my picks:

    ROUND PICK PLAYER POS
    1 5 Dirk Nowitzki PF
    2 8 Michael Redd GF
    3 5 Carmelo Anthony SF
    4 8 Antawn Jamison F
    5 5 Mike James PG
    6 8 T.J. Ford PG
    7 5 Chris Wilcox FC
    8 8 Zach Randolph PF
    9 5 Wally Szczerbiak GF
    10 8 David West PF
    11 5 Damon Stoudamire PG
    12 8 Eddy Curry C

I'm hoping to finish off with Steve Francis and perhaps Kendrick Perkins if he is stilll available.

A fellow Perkins fan? Darth Tater gets down on my boy and favors Dampier but that KP fella got me some nice numbers for a 12th or 13th round pick.

Absolutely. His rebounds and blocked shots are nothing to snooze at! I had him on my team last year as well.

Tied for first place and playing the other division leader this week. I'm currently up 6-2. If I win this league, I am automatically invited into the big league next year where I can actually make some money.

If only my PF.com leagues worked out this well. Currently, I am in five leagues. I am in first place in all of them with the exception of the two PF.com leagues. Kudos to you fellas for playing at such a high level!
