I have been posting these in the rumors/trades thread, but with more and more coming out from all ends of the world feel like it deserves it's own thread.

    So, here it comes.

It will cover all NBA-related stuff - players, teams, ex-players, the league, and anything else to do with NBA. Please feel free to contribute here.

To begin, I'd like to offer this brutal piece: NBA Offseason Losers: Knicks, Nets And 76ers Fans May Want To Close Their Eyes

I thought the thread title said NBA Onion Articles. I was expecting to see an archive of sardonic NBA articles.

The problem with that list is that the others listed on that list were all KEY pieces of their respective championship teams. You remove Duncan from Spurs, or KG from Boston, or Dirk from Dallas and they don't win the trophy. In Dirk's case, they may not event get out of the first round. Probably the closest comparison is McHale.

Gasol is a very very good player, and is probably one of the most underappreciated players in the league. Not HOF material though.

Kobe never won without Shaq or Gasol.

I'd say Gasol was more important for that run than Kobe.

Kobe is just like Melo to me, a mercurial scorer with slightly better 1 on 1 defense. If he didn't have 5 rings, nobody would be talking about him. He landed at the best organisation and was surround by some of the best players.

I dislike Kobe as a person, but he is an amazing player. Gasol is a great piece, but he is not a centerpiece (pun intended).

"If you didn't have 5 rings, no one would be talking about you!", leaves something to be desired as far as trash talk goes.

Ray Allen was the key piece for the Heat this year, not Lebron. Bosh solves the spacing dilemma of Wade/Lebron. Is Lebron the best player? Yep. But the people around him enhance his greatness significantly.

Do you think Kobe would have been who he is now if he wasn't traded to the Lakers?

Not really. I don't buy into that crap to begin with, and I consider Derek Fisher to be a giant waste of space.
