Scoring is as such. There are 15 possible correct answers for series winners. 8 in Round 1 4 in Round 2 2 in Round 3 1 in Round 4 Yes, it is attrition, but with 40+ entrants, there has to be a way to narrow the field. Even if we were using series differential, the folks losing teams in the first round would be eliminated (albeit a little slower in some cases and faster in others). In the event of a tie (which seems likely there will be several), we'll use the net first round outcome differential as a tie break. Prizes are starting to roll in. Sometime this week I will get the prize allocations together. Remember, we are splitting the prizes up to award more than one individual and the final allocation has not been set. Just because you may be out of the grand champion running doesn't mean that there is no chance of reward. This is NOT an all or nothing proposition.
There is no way anyone predicted this(7 games) so I think even if we win the series , we are all losers!! ...jus kdn!
Round 2 is over and with 3 very close series. The Dallas v SA matchup was certainly a very hard fought series going into OT where dallas prevailed. So here are the updated standings. Please note that the number next to your name is the number of series you correctly predicted in round 2. Good Luck to everyone and especially the Pistons. :fingerscr 12 Dlev59 4 MotownPride 4 11 DarthTater 3 majestik 3 professor 3 Pastor Flournoy 3 basketbills 4 webz 4 10 ggazoo69 2 #1Pistonfan 2 jzchen 2 Dumars4Ever 2 jammertime 3 M4Babbie 3 BillLaimbeer 3 Zoso 3 lemonpen 3 Pistonchickforever 3 9 BigDaddy 2 max 2 jwalk40 2 Warthog 2 linwood 2 LA Dre 2 einsteinrig 2 vthomp 3 jpmorgan 3 BROTHER HQ 3 Mad Hatter 3 8 sbullon14 2 Tyskillz 2 Superstarov 2 himat 2 Abe Froemen 2 panoptican 3 DirtyMoney 3 7 16 Mile 1 1989 1 dba 1 Jimm 2
There haven't been too many upsets in the playoffs, but to pick all 12 series correctly is still a great feat. Congrats to Dlev59 and MotownPride. Good work!
Thanks to majestik and Bill for doing the pool and Micro, of course. Did I leave anyone out? Now if I were only doing better.
Thanks...I dunno how I do it..I just do it. Special thanks to Majestic as well for taking care of the calculations. Maybe this can make up for my disappointing fantasy b-ball season.
Nice calls...maybe? Bill Laimbeer and Panoptican both predicted a Heat victory over the Mavs in the finals. I think Bill can tie the two leaders (he is two points behind with 3 potential points outstanding and I believe all 3 have Dallas winning this round) if Miami wins it all. Panoptican is too far behind from the early rounds to catch up. Most people picked the Pistons over the Spurs. (myself, and a few others had Detroit over Dallas). I think I'm in good position to nab one of those T-shirts. If I won, I would have requested to trade down for one anyhow! :D
2006 NBA Finals Detroit Pistons vs Dallas Mavericks That`s my pick and I`m sticking to it!!!! (one of the two leaders)
Yep. Like the Pistons, you (and Mo) are the team(s) to beat unless and until the competition proves otherwise. I sure hope you are correct with your pick. :fingerscr
Results after the conference finals. Great calls by Panoptican & Bill Laimbeer. I'm confused about scoring. I got 6 points in the first round (I called the Nuggets and the Lakers to move on). But then I only got 1 point in the second round? (I called the Pistons, Heat, and Maverics to move on.) And in the Conference Finals DarthTater has given me a point, but I would have thought that I shouldn't get anything, since I called Pistons over Heat and Mavs over Nuggets. Don't I need to have both the participating teams and the winner correct in order to score?
You get one point for every series you call correctly. You got nothing for the Pistons over the Heat (unfortunately) because Detroit lost. You got one point for the Mavs winning that round (didn't matter who they beat). You just need the winner of that round. I'll check the second round. If you called those 3 teams then you should have earned 3 points there.
Yep. You are correct. Majestic must have missed two of your second round points. You actually have 10 points. 13 Dlev59 1 Motown Pride 1 12 Bill Laimbeer 2 basketbills 1 Darth Tater 1 Webz 1 11 majestik 0 professor 0 Pastor Flournoy 0 10 1989 1 panoptican 2 ggazoo69 0 #1Pistonfan 0 jzchen 0 Dumars4Ever 0 jammertime 0 M4Babbie 0 Zoso 0 lemonpen 0 Pistonchickforever 0 max 1 Mad Hatter 1 9 BigDaddy 0 jwalk40 0 Warthog 0 linwood 0 LA Dre 0 einsteinrig 0 vthomp 0 jpmorgan 0 BROTHER HQ 0 Dirty Money 1 8 sbullon14 0 Tyskillz 0 Superstarov 0 himat 0 Abe Froemen 0 7 16 Mile 0 dba 0 Jimm 0
