There is a new trade rumor that Dale Davis may be traded to Seattle. Seatle lost their center to injury.

Personally, I would rather trade Nazr or McDyess, I think Joe is looking at Nick Collison, that's the rumor anyway.

There may or may not be something to this rumor, however, I believe something is in the works.

Although Collison has played more, on a per minute basis DD is about 17% more productive based on sprocket points. And note that this is only for games through 12/2. (Which is just the latest spreadsheet I found.) Given DD's recent increase in PT and productivity, looks like a step down if the trade is just one for one.

    So, Noooooooooo....

Here is one link to that rumor. It believe it only mentions that a perfect candidate to replace Swift would be Davis, in the opinion of that writer, but the article I don't believe says anything about Collison being the other half of the trade. The article does mention that Collision continues to get in early foul trouble. Just what the Pistons need another Nazr. May the basketball gods spare us this insanity of C-Bill for AI and The Viagra Man for a bird; i.e. Jayhawk

Sprocket points? Do they have any sprocket points for Dale Davis being an intimidating badass and Collison being the opposite?

You get 10 sprocket points for throwing the other team's center to the floor.

I rather have Damien Wilkins. Watson can't shoot to save his life.

The Pistons need to clear Dale's salary to make room to re-sign Billups. I don't see Dale getting traded unless Billups has a serious injury and the entire plan going forward falls into doubt.

The article was wishful thinking by Seattle. Dale's contract is over at the end of this season, so we don't need the cap space.

Watson would be nice- and Dale Davis' stock is on its top, I don't think it can rise any more given his age.
That would be a nice chance to give Amir a chance AND acquire a decent guard that this team barely needs. I'd trade DD for Rashard Lewis too.
DD and Murray for Watson and some scrub or pick would be nice too. Unfortunately, Seattle know really well what a scrub Murray is.

Yes I did not see anything in there either besides wishfull thinking. Also kind of amusing how they were calling the Pistons play on the back-back a statistical oddity. Obviously their fact checker missed that about how well the Pistons have been playing in the back-backs this season.

Maybe Dumars can use this to move Modamed.

Ros - If Dumars still needs cap space to re-sign Billups and he went out and commited 30 mil to Mohamed then he is now officially a duma@@ in my book.

I have got to wonder, last summer, if Joe could have had a window into the future and saw the way Davis and Maxiell are playing now, would he have signed Mohamed at all?

Ok, well I'm using the term "cap space" loosely.

The Pistons have an extreme allergy to paying luxury tax. In fact, the luxury tax is now almost working like a hard cap with very few teams willing to exceed it.

My point being that CBillups is making around $6 million and next year, the Pistons will be "probably" paying him around $12 million. We're already close to the tax threshold, so expect the Pistons to let Davis' contract expire naturally so they can gain another $4 million in committed salary to throw at Billups.

As I type this, I get the creepy feeling that a big deal for Chauncey could freeze us going forward.

Maybe things will go the way of the Blue Jays and Vernon Wells. Wells got his money, but took a home town discount and backloaded the contract so that the Jays still have money to work with.

.... then again, maybe they'll go the way of Big Ben...

Davis they should have and I am sure knew about. He has been in the league for 15 years or something, so it should have been a matter of can he still play. Is he playing well in practice? Ok he can still play.

On Maxiel. We learned almost nothing about him last season. Thats the advantage of giving rookies at least some reguar PT - you don't have to go out and give a questionable vet 30 mil over 5 years. Mohamed was not even Dumars 1st choice. I know its an old topic, its something I think about every time someone other than the core 7 from last season who we had on last years team has a good game.

Ros - for an extra 3 mil/yr we could have Maxiel and Davis backing up the 2 Wallace's. If you add together Dyess and Mohameds salaries its not that much less than what Ben got from the Bulls.

Not trying to throw bricks but thats what GM are paid the big bucks to forecast out in the future.

I hope we can keep Billups.

Let's go with Nazr & Murray for Watson & Petro... we keep D.D.'s expiring... we get a true PG and a defender (that's all Petro's good for)... Petro's stats are the same as Nazr's yet he cost 4M less this year and is signed for three less years.

Collison can't be traded... he's got the poison pill this year (trade restriction)
