According to Hoopshype and The New York Post, trade negotiations reopened with Pistons/Nets. Could possibly be the largest trade in NBA history involving at least 17 players. Based on the article, Terrico White is now thrown into the mix. Regardless of the situation, I would not give anyone a first round pick.
8 Nets players and 6 from Denver are involved. The Pistons have just 3 tied up in this deal including Hamilton and White...It must be mentioned however that Tayshaun was seen buying a larger piece of luggage yesterday. Billups is the one who may stop this deal as he doesn't want to go. The reuniting of Billups and Hamilton seems to be the Key to getting Melo to the Nets.
Melo to Nets Rip to Nuggs Kris Humphries-6'9" .70 ft% 8 and 9 or Brook Lopez-7ftr .78 ft% 18 and 5 or Travis Outlaw to Pists. no guards but Morrow is fair.
I'd rather give up the '11 1st rounder than Terrico White!!! This kid was the steal of the draft. I don't undertand the Nets side of this. It doesn't seem to leave them enough to win when everything is done.
Kris Humphries is the anti-Villanueva. I'd love to have him on this team. He's a solid 30 MPG hard worker who knows his role. Coming into his own as a Udonis Haslem type.
Who wouldn't. You might say something to build around. There are other pockets to pick, even on the same team.
...but I do!!! Nets cannot compete for Melo-like all star at the open market - therefore it is the best strategy to bind soul like this before NY knicks has a chance...
I was just thinking about that this morning when I read about the last round of talks that inc giving up a 1st round pick. I would if it was top 4 or 5 protected. Other than that we may be better off revamping the roster than getting another 7th pick. All depends on whats in the mix. If another potential player is inc then would our pending 7th-10th pick be any better?
A few items from Hoopshype: * Billups wants to stay in Denver. * The Warriors have interest in Tay. * Good quote from Kobe: The MVP chants Amar'e Stoudemire has heard this season may be fitting, but Kobe Bryant doesn't put much stock in them. "The home crowds chant MVP for anybody,'' Bryant said. "They chant MVP for Earl Boykins in Milwaukee.'' * Saunders’s stay in Washington is brief. The Wizards were 0-17 on the road entering last night’s game in Charlotte. This is a team that was considered a playoff contender
This article says the Nets get Melo, CB & Rip and Detroit gets Troy Murphy Sources: Nets, Nuggets closer to Carmelo Anthony deal - NorthJersey.com
Now you are thinking like a chess player. The tea leaves this year and perhaps more, say a very weak draft. Even in a lotto pick, I would look for some trading. If the young owner makes good in the next 30 days, then his dependency rest with JD. As much as I knock JD, he has some very good strengths. The forthcoming chaotic mix at years end will play to his strength.
The article said the trade could be made within 48 hours. Gogogo! And with Melo in NJ we might pass them in the lottery balls race too.
So I guess Murphy would simply sit out his expiring contract and everythink else would be hell. Just imagine CV with Murphy on the court, how much space can a 3pt lane have? Who are the free agents next year that could be acquired with RIP's contract gone and Murphy's not re-newed? For NJ, this is a all or nothing deal; if CB decides to make it although he stated he'd stay in Denver no matter what, it would be RIP-CB-Melo and Brook Lopez in one line-up. Not exactly a team with a great future but one that could challenge Miami, LA and the others if they get it together somehow.
Chris Mannix from SI just tweeted that Melo is on-board to signing with the Nets if they can get the Detroit part done edit: http://twitter.com/ChrisMannixSI
The Pistons have a wild amount of leverage if this is true. I sure hope it is. Getting rid of Rip's contract, and Rip, opens up our space for wing players significantly. All of a sudden, next season, won't we have a ton of cap room?
The court will be so spread that Fat Albert would be able to shoot layups. What free agents? Ben Gordon Jr. Charlie Villanueva III Tay Prince Rodney Stuckey Who else but Joe Dumars could sandwich boatloads of cap space around the greatest free agent class of all time while not having a dollar to spend on the actual class?
This should answer your question: NBA free agents in 2011 and 2012 - ESPN Of note: Big Baby Perk Chandler Spellcheck (R) Stuckey Jerebko Aaron Brooks (R) DeAndre Jordan (R) Marc Gasol (R) Z-Bo Kris Humphries David West Jeff Green (R) Spencer Hawes Thaddeus Young
It's all about money. After combing the hinterlands of NY...a Manhattan apartment is still just an apartment. Over three years, it will just about pay for that apartment. This of course assuming the forthcoming CBA draconian cuts hovering around 3 year max @ 12-15 M.
