I think they prefer to be called little people these days.
looks like denver is getting low-balled by every team at this point, I don't see them getting another star in return for melo, so what else are they going to get? If they decide not to trade they stand of chance of losing melo and getting absolutely nothing in return. I thought Stucky and RIP can contribute over there, right from the get. Throw in Summers a young guy with potential, I really don't think its a bad deal. I doubt Denver gets a deal thats heads and shoulders better than this one. Or like you said replace Hamilton with Prince and swing the deal that way. Throwing in Stucky and Summers or JJ definately sweetens the pot. Only problem is getting Melo to resign with Detroit.
What sort of pot would Stucky or Summers sweeten?
I'd rather re-sign Stuckey for 4 years, 35 million than Melo to 3 years, 60 million.
Not sure if serious.
I want to know what Wiggles thinks first.
Me too...and I could care less if he confirms it or not....
I'm 100% serious. 7.5 million a year for Stuckey isn't a horrible price, especially compared to 20 million a year compared to Carmello! You think Melo wants to be in Detroit!? I'm not a huge Stuckey fan, and Melo might put some warm bodies in the seats, but he isn't going to win us a championship and sooner than Stuckey would, especially with his crippling contract.
I understand your position, but I looked at 35 million over 4 years which is close to 9 million per season...and I just gagged. I don't see that kind of money for Stuckey. I really don't want Melo now either. Actually, I'd rather have a box of doughnuts.
Denver doesn't need more SGs. Afflalo is doing great over there and they have JR Smith coming off the bench. Smith is a headcase, but he can put up points. Last thing they need is Rip there. BTW, Melo will never ever ever never in a million years agree to sign an extension to play in Detroit.
Yes it would just be a salary dumping move on our part but I agree that we do not have anything that Denver would want unless you want to throw in Monroe, JJ and a couple of picks which would defeat the whole purpose.
With Tay and Rip gone wouldn't that open up some endorsement opportunities with Wallside Windows and Lasik Eyecare that Melo and his wife are looking for?
Ernie was definitely thinking outside the box.
On again, but it seems without Rip. Bummer. The Nets would send rookie Derrick Favors, point guard Devin Harris, forward Troy Murphy with his expiring $11.9 million contract, rookie guard Ben Uzoh, and four first-round draft picks to the Nuggets for Anthony, point guard Chauncey Billups, forwards Renaldo Balkman and Shelden Williams, and center Melvin Ely. The Nets would surrender their first-round pick for June’s NBA Draft along with a pair of 2012 picks (a protected-to-18 pick received from the Lakers and a protected-to-7 pick from the Warriors), and a 2011 lottery-protected Rockets pick. Nuggets and Nets reportedly agree on deal, leaving Anthony to determine his own fate | ProBasketballTalk
I doubt the Nets would stay put after that trade goes through. They'll have: PG: Billups SG: Morrow SF: Melo PF: Humphries C : Lopez Off the bench they'll have: PG: Farmar SG: Vujacic SF: Outlaw, James, Ross, Graham PF: Balkman, Williams C : Ely, Petro They have a bunch of stiffs at the power spots, a plethora of useless SFs and an ex-Laker bench. Other than Vujacic ($5.5M), they don't have any expiring contracts of substantial value. They'll end up with a poor bench that nobody else would want. They don't have any assets that we can use either. CV and Rip would be nice bench players for them, but the two combined make 20M. The Nets would have to give up their entire bench to get those two. The best scenario for us would be for them to swap Petro, Vujacic and scrap SFs for Rip. All we'll get out that deal is we get rid of an equivalent of half of Rip's contract. In all likelihood, they'll pull of 1-2 more trades. We just won't be that trade partner.
Seems like a great deal for Denver... but I haven't thought it through completely. 4 first round picks?
It certainly does. I would have to be pretty sure that Melo signs to not accept this deal. I guess it's about if Melo wants to commit to NJ now.
Rumor has it that Joe has been working hard on a deal that would swap Rip Hamilton for Tayshaun Prince.
