I had the thought yesterday that we should have sat Rip out for the game to add to the speculation to put more pressure on them to do the deal. Maybe it would have backfired.
New Jersey can just sign Melo in the offseason, albeit they will have competition then. Denver gets nothing if they hold onto Melo.
If the deal doesn't get done, both Denver and New Jersey lose out on Melo. I think both franchises are trying hard to make it happen.
This deal can stay in the "in progress mode" all the way up to the trading deadline which really hurts Denver as they are the team slipping out of playoff contention every day. In fact we have to assumed that they have already decided to sacrifice the season anyway.
They would get his services through the end of the season... which per the market, is worth a lot of money. I don't understand why Melo wants out so badly right now. He's on a good team that is an outside contender. Why not just stick it out and then go to the FA market looking like a good guy and not a whiner?
It can help Denver in getting NJ's pick. It pays to wait and let as many losses as possible pile up for the Nets. On the Nets end, they already have a worse record than us so they have to get this done soon if they want to save the season and make the playoffs with their new team.
Melo's rep as a malcontent cannot be undone. What's funny to me is how fans in Denver are only NOW starting to see it.
It's true that the trade discussion will affect the Nugget's chances of making the playoffs. Look what it has done to the Piston's chances. Imagine how much better our record would be if this deal had happened quickly.
Those cuties. Billups has had several conversations with Hamilton about the potential trade and expects a resolution before too long. While Billups doesn’t want to leave his hometown of Denver, he’s accepted it’s a real possibility. Hamilton, meanwhile, is more than ready to leave the rebuilding Pistons. “I’m sure we will find out soon if it will be a reality or not,” Billups told Yahoo! Sports. “I’ll be ready either way. Of course, Rip is pulling for anything to get out of his current situation. We will see.” Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton talking about reuniting (and it feel so good) | ProBasketballTalk
something says to me that Rip's appreciation thread for the sake of "political correctness" will be filled with Silvertongue-esqe odes.
This deal feels too much like 'there's so much chatter about it that it HAS to fall apart'. I'm hoping it doesn't
Me too. I just ordered my Johan Petro jersey and I'm gonna look like an idiot if this deal doesn't happen.
I know the feeling. I just picked him up on both of my fantasy teams. By the way, which Petro jersey did you order, the Seattle, Oklahoma City, Denver, or New Jersey one? I ordered all four.
