Petro played the other night but Murphy has only seen action in one of the Nets last six games and they did not take him on their four game trip out west. Assume he is at home watching his team mates on the tube and checking out the 10 day weather forecast for the Detroit area?

Murphy has been in the NJ doghouse all year. I'd be happy to have a guy who averaged 15 and 10 last year and 14 and 12 the year before. Prince, Murphy, and Monroe seems like a pretty interesting frontline to me.

Like stated in another thread about a week ago, Murphy CAN rebound the ball, and stretch the floor. If he does get traded to Detroit, he would definitely get some minutes, and play hard for a new contract. If we dump Charlie V, Murphy would be a welcome addition. Otherwise, we have two very similar players at the four, and still no true center (although Murphy is more capable of playing the 5 than CV).

...or we could sign Charlie Murphy.

I thought Monroe was our true center. Now I'm all confused again.

I still don't get the sentiment that Monroe isn't a Center (or at least can't play it). There are very few good "true centers" in the league.

I think Monroe's going to be an outstanding center. Project him 2, 3 and 4 years from now: he'll be lots stronger, and he's already showing a lot of fine defensive ability for a rookie.

I'd like to see that too but speculation continues the Pistons will buy him out and he'll go to Orlando

Well even so, buying out Murphy would be fine. We free Rips contract, get rid of Tays at the end of the year, and only have to take on Petro's 3 mil a year. I have no problems with that. Maybe we package Tay's expiring with some of these draft picks we have, and get a real point guard up in here?

Not a bad plan, though who really has a PG available?

Apparently the Pistons can't buyout Murphy due to the pending sale

Who would we get if a second trade happens?

the only player SA, Dal or ORL have that the Pistons could need and who is possibly available is Tiago Splitter - and this only if he lives up to his expectations if he gets more minutes.

On a side note, the Pistons should try everything possible to snatch Devin Harris; with Arnie's frozen banana's, he could be money as a replacement for Stuckey.

Tiago Splitter would be a great adition for our rebuilding,SA donĀ“t let him go,he is young and quality player, late seasson and next year with Greg Popovich system learned he will be a dangerous player.
Caron Butler + first pick for Prince would be nice, I think Kamman contract and his health are two problems. He plays in Monroe position, Monroe/Wilcox/Wallace/Murphy/Vilanueva/Jonas Jerebko/Maxiel are too much players for center/PF positions.
It would be nice deal villanueva or maxiel to Orlando.
Hamilton deal is near to be done, great news for all us pistons fans.

Splitter would be okay, but who else to make the salaries workable?

Do we really want to go after another scoring point guard? He's too ball-dominant. Gets his numbers Will Bynum style.

I would rather look for a true point in the draft that is closer in age to Monroe.

I'd definitely take a look at Splitter. Would rather snag Deandre Jordan though. We need a high flyer like that next to Monroe.

Splitter won't be enough; the salaries must match. Murphy's salary is about $11M. SAS, Dallas or Orlando would have to send back similar amount of salary.

The only deal that I see possible is Maxiell/Murphy to Orlando for Arenas.

I note Anthony is playing in the game for Denver right now. Kind of strange to see Rip sit for a trade that could, or could not happen.

Maybe Rip is sitting out for other reasons, too. He did tell Chauncey that he can't wait to get out of Detroit.
