and another game wishing we had our new pg. This game has the makings of another London massacre. I dont think Singler will have any luck guarding Melo and Stat has been playing well lately, BK/ Stuck wont be very effective on JR and I really hope Im wrong
Singler will need some help defending Melo, but I like the way that he is up for any challenge. He did a respectable job trying to stay in front of Kobe today.
Singler has really been a pleasant surprise now that he has gone back to his natural position of sf. He was really starting to look tired playing sg and chasing the smaller guards around all night. He is actually a better rebounder than I gave him credit for also. With his bb iq, I really like him as a solid sf going forward.
Every team I was cheering for this weekend, Wolverines, Pistons, Clippers and 49ers all fell behind big early in their games today or yesterday and came back to either tie or lose their game by three points or less (Wolverines tied, but loss by 8). It's over the 49ers, but hopefully the teams I follow have great week, especially the Pistons, who now fallen 6.5 games out that playoff spot that was only 4 when Rondo went down. Let's hope Jose is in uniform this week and his note taking pays dividends right away.....maybe even in NY
That's mainly because Kobe is pulling a Wilt and forcing distribution. Melo probably isn't doing extra film prep to find Singler's Achilles heel on D.
I didn't realize that was the case. Pretty nice stat for Singler, especially since it is independent of his starting role.
APparently Jose is cleared to play tonight. Y'all are harping on Singler for his lack of defense. He's no Tony Allen, but he is not bad at all defensively. Especially at the 3.
Jose/ Knight/ Singler/ Maxiell/ Monroe Doesn't seem like it will be adequate on D. NY is a tough team to try to guard with a new starter that hasn't had 1 practice with the team yet. It should be interesting though. Expecting limited minutes from Calderon in this one- like 20-25. Important to start him though to make it clear to all on the team how he's going to be used.
This game will be a very good measuring stick for our bigs. Can Moose score against a big defensive enforcer in Chandler? Can Dre guard Amare? I'm excited about this game.
We ALWAYS play horribly against the Knicks. It's got to have something to do with the guards sagging into the paint so much leaving their shooters open. Didn't help that our brilliant coach went to lineups that got progressively worse defensively. Calderon/Knight/Stuck/JJ/Monroe - really?! Or Bynum/Knight/Stuckey/JJ/Andre...
Followed by a barrage offensive rebounds if they happen to miss that'll probably lead to more 3's. It's crazy what a bad matchup the Knicks are for the Pistons. They're bigger (and their guys play bigger against DET), shoot better and are more athletic. It's not like they just got hot for a quarter, they've been methodically and consistently beating the Pistons like this for what feels like 6 games. I'd rather they play Utah.
They just mismatch us on the wings really badly. Melo is just burning us (10-16) and even JR looks good playing against us. Frank should get chewed for this one. Every minutes Chandler plays he should be getting boxed out on the 3pt line by Drummond. STAT has shown up so far. When he does that, its really hard to stop him from hurting you
Also, these small lineups are f***ing terrible. Frank really needs to stop pretending he is even remotely like Spoelstra. If you are going to preach defense, at least put out a team that looks like it.
We basically played them even in the second half, but the first half was a disaster as the Knicks played well and we played horrible. I am ok with the small ball lineups, if Frank keeps doing it, it removes all doubt it's bad. If he continues to do it, then he's going to lose his job. Either way, the situation will correct itself.
