Roy Williams sticks Cowboys rookie with $54,000 bill

    BY JAMES JAHNKE
    FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER

Remember the big flap when Cowboys rookie receiver Dez Bryant refused to carry former Lion Roy Williams' pads during training camp? And remember when Williams said it was no big deal ... but Bryant probably would have to buy dinner to make up for it? [IMG]That time came Monday night. And the tab was $54,896, according to espndallas.com. Bryant was set to take Dallas' offensive players to Pappas Bros. Steakhouse, and Williams made sure to invite the defensive players, too. "They got the young fella," Bryant's adviser, David Wells, told the site. "What could he say? He had to pay it unless he wanted to wash dishes for a month." Players reportedly ordered basically everything on the menu -- and even took home bottles of wine. Before you feel too bad for Bryant, know that he received $8.3 million in guaranteed money from his rookie contract.

Oh, those jokers. Spending what the average American makes in a year on one steak dinner. What'll they think of next! Wakka wakka wakka! :messer:

No doubt. He could have just carried one of the veteran's bags during training camp and save himself 50 grand.

That was a cool game to watch last night. Two teams that Favre used to play for.

I was rootng against the Vikes big time because I can's stand Favre and I wanted the NFC team to lose.

Did you see how the camera was constantly focusing on him and how he was so excited about his 500th touchdown pass.Despite his team being behind 9 points late in the game he was very happy. Constantly getting caught by the camera and showing how his boo boo hurt.

Then after the game they focused on him for 10 minutes and the winning team, the Jets, for 2 minutes.

I really don't like the Jets or Vikings, but OK with the Jets win so that the Lions have a team to share the basement with.

Still wondering if the Lions should have taken Sanchez instead of Stafford:sssh::sssh:

Neither Bradford or Sanchez showed interest in the Lions.

Sanchez has been surrounded by a MUCH better team. A dominent defense, shutdown corners, solid receivers, a running game and a great offensive line.

Stafford has been surrounded by the Ford Family.

And Sanchez coming from the USC coaching machine may have been better prepared.....

I don't know if any of you saw the event at the Black Hole last Sunday.
But the proceedings were psychotic. The Raider D must've scored 30 fantasy pt. But the Chargers moved the ball at will on that D. But whenever they got to the goal line they turned the ball over. But the Raiders would go 3 and out. Any one that picked the Raiders to win that game was basing it on the psychosis that is the Black Hole !

I don't see Sanchez as a particularly good QB or prospect. I've been very unimpressed with him this season.

Teams draft players, not the other way around.

I prefer Stafford at this point anyway. Can't wait until he gets back.

BS, word goes out if a QB doesn't want to be somewhere. They're more discrete now than when George or Payton was drafted.
