Goodell to NFL clubs: Eliminate bounties - Yahoo! News Head coach is gone for a year among other penalties... Don't feel nearly as bad about the things the Lions have gotten the last couple years for "breaking" there laws... On a side note, I really really don't understand the double standard the players are taking on injuries.... They think bounties are ok, but think the NFL doesn't do enough to protect them at the same time.... makes me scratch my head.
They are hitting the Saints across the board. Head coach, assistant coach, another assistant indefinitely, GM gets time off, and players will be named later.........Also a $500,000 fine. Sean Payton will lose his 6.5 million dollar salary for this season. The owner better sign Drew Brees before he considers sitting out and then playing elsewhere next season.
HANGING JUDGE ! BOUT DAMN TIME ! This is just the first salvo. Goodell caught people lying to him ! A player back in o9 reported the "Bounties" of coach Williams but had to retract the accusations because it couldn't be substantiated. Then some one came forth and Goodell grabbed his rope. ------------------------------------- I've watched NFL for 30 years and seen some dirty play. It's time The NFL cleaned up it's act. If you can only survive in the NFL by maiming some one else. See ya.
Those types scare me. I remember a baseball commissioner who was brought in about 100 years ago to clean up baseball betting. He did his job, but he also banned Black players during the lifetime of his service.....remember, he also had absolute power.
This is different. I don't see the connection. He sent a clear message. It needed to be done. No bias. Goodell is often a puppet. I'm glad he finally stood up. Good job by the Commissioner. Maybe we should try to get him to take over our fantasy baseball league? The knucklehead Commissioner we've got now is corrupt.
I agree with the punishments. They were deserved. I've never considered Goodell a puppet though. The connection is that the commissioner has absolute powers now...as he did then. As far as the commissioner of our fantasy league...he has my blessing cause he decoded the manager's names for me. He also has been generally polite to me lately.
I can't see how Payton wasn't fired day one after the damaged he caused. And to think they could punk the commish ?!
