Good memory. And his name was Rosey! Did he ever finish first though? I couldn't tell from the biography.
I know the Rams & Vikings had some good teams, but I can't recall if they won the Super bowl. But I don't think that is a reflection on Rosey Grier. Check this out though. I think this says more about his toughness than his ability to "finish first." He and Olympic Gold Medal Winner Rafer Johnson helped capture and detain Robert F. Kennedy's assassin Sirhan Bishara Sirhan on 6 June 1968; Grier placed his sizeable thumb behind the trigger of Sirhan's gun to prevent him from firing the weapon at anyone else in the crowd.
I'm going to REMEMBER to quote this on Sunday, after my team teaches your boys a thing or two about fantasy hockey.
Rosey Grier never won a championship with the Rams -- until they won the Super Bowl with Kurt Warner, they hadn't won a league title since '51 -- but it does appear that he was on the Giants' 1956 NFL championship team.
OK, so his name was Rosey, he liked to knit and do other really nice things, he saved innocent lives with his thumb, and he finished first! This proves that Dungy was not an isolated case.
