Sucks to be Cleveland! Sounds like a bit of a panic move by Cleveland after they lost out on McDyess and Villanueva. They will be way over the cap now. I guess this may take their name out of the Bass running also which is good news for us.

CV at his price truly is a bargain compared to Vareflop.

I don't think they were in the running for Bass anyway. Bass's agent identified Orlando, Detroit, and Portland as three finalists for the player's services.
Also, looks like Cleveland hasn't really gotten that much better unless they have some magic trick under their sleeve.

I don't think anyone here thinks we overpaid for CV.

But to your point, man did Cleveland overpay. Why did they feel like they needed to go that high?

According to what I read, Cleveland was worried that there were teams ready to throw $10 mil/year at him. Now, I don't know what team would do that, but that's what was written.

:pound:@ Ferry for being gullible enough to fall for that. Any other GM would have called their bluff.

Man, and I thought Max had a bad contract.

The Cavs did overpay, they'll probably only be able to add 3 former All Stars after next season and those guys won't even be recovering from injuries. What are they thinking?

Before that deal they were in not bad shape cap-wise for next year. Shaq and Big Z's big contracts come off the books and they'd be well under to offer James the max and still pick up some players.

I wonder if this off-season begins the unravelling of the Cavs. Close again, but no ship. See ya in another 15 years.

Anyone been to the Cavs forum to see what they think of this wonderful news?

It's relevant to what mangement is willing to pay... we wouldn't have paid more than the MLE for Floppy... but the new Cavs management (with pocket laced Chinese investors) may be thinking this is just a start... I'm thinking the Cavs are loaded for bear and they're in a position to overpay... they could get the last laugh on our tight assed ways.

is he really testing the filter by using ONLY symbols and no letters? obviously, it's your forum and you make the rules but... is he allowed to say frikkin? or freakin? lol. is LMAO inappropriate? by the way, what does the "f" in ROFL stand for, anyway??? maybe this is all outlined in one of the general discussion threads, sorry, i'm a newbie

edit: i just saw that LMAO is hyperlinked with a little defintion that says a certain word that i don't have the stones to even abbreviate on here:sssh:

The symbols are an auto replacement for curses.

Here are the rules. They are the result of collaboration and convention stretching over 5 years.

    Forum Guidelines

They are easy enough for anyone to conform with, without any special effort. We simply ask people to be respectful to one another and the forum at large.

When I remind someone about the rules, I presume they have read them. If they have not, then they should.

After reading the rules, if you have questions about them, please post them here, not in a basketball discussion. Thanks.

    The other side...

Vercingetorix had a Sprocket Points justified salary last year of $8,150m. Start him at that and give him 1% raises over six years and you get a $50mm deal. Maybe six years is a little long, five at the same rate would have been a $42mm deal. Maybe the last year is a team option.
