Give me Jerry Sloan, if he'll take the job. I've wanted him forever. He'd whip our kids into shape, get them playing the right way, maximize our talent. Detroit basketball.

I'd love either Van Gundy, but mostly because I'd get to hear this in my head all the time.

    I just read that link...

    McMillan? No, thanks!
    Mike Brown? No!
    Brian Shaw? No
    Kelvin Sampson? No
Mike Malone? Maybe.. but I want more experienced Head Coaches
    Alvin Gentry? No
    Tom Izzo? Maybe
Van Gundy? Maybe, rather have Jeff than Stan.
Bill Laimbeer? Yes.. for the love. (But I know he has issues with Dumars)
Jerry Sloan? Yes, but I don't think he is looking to come to Detroit...

If JD doesn't choose Laimbeer......then Gores should fire him.

Gores should offer JD the coaching job before he fires him.

I hear that Philly is replacing Collins with one of their assistants.......a familiar name.

Is there any merit to the rift between Dumars and Laimbeer, or is that one of them "it's true because someone on the Internet said so" type deals.

Of all the names being thrown around, I would be delighted with Sloan or Laimbeer. Hiring Sloan would be the best thing to ever happen for Knight.

I'm lukewarm about McMillan. I think he's a good coach that can take this team to the playoffs, but not much further. I'd rather roll the dice on him than many of the other candidates.

Larry Brown would be really interesting and IIRC it was mostly Davidson that had issues with him last go around. So there might be a possibility there.

I'd love to see Izzo succeed in the NBA and he might be a very good fit to coach a team of mostly young kids. I doubt he'll leave MSU for the mess that is the Pistons nowadays though.

Any of the other non-rookie coaches mentioned would be a lateral move from Frank. If we are to go with a rookie, I hope that would be Budlenhozier (or whatever his name is).

Lastly, if Pistons hire Mike Brown, I'm going to douse all my Pistons shirts in gasoline and have a bonfire in the backyard (then off to Old Navy because I have not much else in my wardrobe.)

Sloan might like the challenge. Humble team. Lot of untapped potential. young. Ready to learn. Hard-workers.

It's next year and Pistons are being blown out by 20 points. CV gets a dunk in garbage time and strikes a pose. Coach immediately calls timeout, chews him out and benches him for the rest of the game for being an idiot. I want that kind of coach. I don't care what his name is.

Geno should be a good hire. He'd be used to coaching a girly team!

I've been an advocate of Laimbeer, but that was before Phil Jackson's name popped up.

If Jackson really does want to coach again and Gores is serious about spending money to return Detroit to the top, he NEEDS to throw EVERYTHING at Jackson.

    errr....

you agree with "... what was the problem with Michael Curry? What was John Kuester? "

I took that sentence and decided that my view of him being a blowhard moron who doesn't know what he's talking about to be true.
