Definitely a classy guy, but not all that sure about his coaching.

When did Mo Cheeks show he deserves another shot at head coaching. I am starting to wonder if the Pistons Job is really that unattractive.

Mo Cheeks. Now I know Dumars is trolling us.

I just spent 2+ hours of my life reading this thread. Instead of playing my guitar or exercising.
Bad Low, promoting this weak BS:
I read an article yesterday that kind of summed it up: Joe Dumars: Not in favor of Bill Laimbeer as Detroit Pistons coach

THIS: "Dumars is not looking for a coach that would be more popular than he is. That’s what would potentially happen with Laimbeer."

    Then recovering with this contradiction:

Maybe, but this is a results oriented business. You can't be the guy who would rather fail with the guys you like than succeed with those who aren't your favorite.

That's not to say Zeke and Laimb are guaranteed successes, but I'm not a fan of adamantly refusing to even consider people; especially people that you've been a part of success with. It's extremely closed minded and should not be the way you decide how you get to success. Those who have helped you build success are in the best position to foster that environment and pass on that knowledge and those practices to the next group. That doesn't mean there's no room for flexibility and evolution, but having that expertise to build on can be invaluable rather than starting from scratch every time. Besides, despite not having that expertise in 2004 to build on AND acquiring guys to win another title that were "model citizens" (until Flip arrived), DET still found a way to jettison THAT group of winners and will likely have no ties going forward with any of them either. It's a pattern that this franchise has become known for and I'd prefer we didn't do things that way.
P.S. I reupped on some "Roll Bounce"

    Notes:
Larry Brown refused to coach/gain his favor/fortify a trade for Stef Marbury. Yet LB was being paid $10M per.
He stepped on everyone at Madison SG including Isiah, just so he could yap with the unholy hounds of hell NY Media. This being his dream job.
As for JD being handcuffed by the widow, how so, was he going to blow a ton of cash on a bad player, making it hard to sell the team ? If so he should of been fired just for lack of confidence. The widow lost ~$50M on the sell because the team stank. [And Gores wasn't a sucker for the sells hype !]

The truth of the matter is none of us know exactly what kind of personal relationship Dumars has with Zeke or Laimbeer or why the other two are not part of the Pistons organization right now. Because we, and by that I mean both the fans and the beat writers, don't know what's talked about behind closed doors, we try to come up with plausible scenarios as to why solutions that are blatantly obvious and thus inevitable to our casual Internet fan eyes are not coming to pass. Some of these scenarios become popular, get repeated, and eventually morph into facts.

Just because JD and Laim don't come on to Tweeter and denounce the rumors doesn't mean any of it was true.
JD has been class not to throw people under the bus, he's always tooken the hi-road.

Remember when JD was the last of the BadBoys on the team ? I think they made the P/Os once then became a quick and easy W for the rest of the league. JD would shoot his azzz off for nothing !
You think he would've learned something.

Budenholzer signs with Atlanta. I am kind of bummed as he was one of my preferred candidates. Oh well.

If Nate McMillian and Cheeks are the favorites, how come no word? Must mean Shaw is a serious candidate or lip service to Gores / Phil duo?

Shaw in the playoffs, so Pistons would have to wait until Indiana is done. Maybe that's the reason.

If Gores is still running the show....which he is...I think he goes with Phil's choice ....because that is why he brought Phil on board to seek and advise.
