Not at all. Hammond moves when he has to.
One must wonder: Has Jackson convinced Shaw to take on Detroit? The longer this drags on, the more that the deal is done and I don't think there is a struggle between JD and Gores. JD seems like he is oiling-down the lilly-pad as a flotation device.

Hers the question. Is Shaw a trianlge system acolyte. And what does that mean with our roster? Can he adapt to the peronsall? Is our personal good for the triangle?

I don't know if he is only a triangle guy. I remember reading an article where Shaw was disgruntled because everyone just assumed he was a triangle guy because he was an assistant under Phil and nobody would give him a shot at coaching for this reason. While the triangle is designed for passing and motion and 5 interchangeable guys on the floor, you still need a go to guy for when it breaks down. We don't have one.

You must be assuming that we aren't going to extend Stuckey for another 4 years.

I'm more impressed with Shaw as the Pacers Ast than Shaw- PJ's go'for; especially since I think the Pacers are the model for this team.

I like the triangle for Monroe.

Now that Grant Hill has finally hung up his sneakers I am sure he will be looking to get into the coaching ranks....whomever Joe decides to sign as his HC, he should have that coach give GHill a chance to learn the ropes on the Pistons bench.

    Thanks for the memories G

For those of you that missed the Inside The NBA show that followed the game here is the David Aldridge report in the coaching carousel.

He mentions that Shaw is the first choice of the Nets, with JVG second and Byron Scott the lead choice for the Clipps with JVG the second there.

Said that McMillan is the Pistons lead choice, but Mo Cheeks has really come on strong and inpressed someone....not sure if it is Joe, Gores.....or Checketts:nailbiting:

Four of the five teams that have already hired coaches, went with first time coaches with only the veteran Larry Drew getting another shot. .

Chuck Person, Patrick Ewing and Brian Shaw are the guys that have paid their dues and are ready to move up the HC job...per Shaq and Chuck.

If we wait around long enough, the rest of the league can make our decision for us.

If they hire Shaw..........JD may be singing a different tune.

McMillan, Cheeks or Shaw. Not terribly excited about any of them, nor do I strongly disagree with any of them.

    Shaw - No HC experience.

Cheeks (.498) - Coached 7.5 seasons. Made the playoffs 3 times - lost in 1st round each time. Twice with Jailblazers, once with post-AI 76ers (knocked out by Pistons).

McMillan (.514) - Coached 11.5 seasons. Made the playoffs 5 times - lost in 1st round in all but one. That team lost 4-2 in 2nd round to Spurs in 04-05. Other than Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis that team didn't have much talent. Looking at some of his rosters it looks like he has gotten the most out of the talent available. Maybe I'm leaning slightly towards him.

I'd love to know what Cheeks did to knock Joe's socks off. Did he jump in to help him finish the national anthem?

I think not being excited by the options is more a reflection of the team and its' in-flux state. I'll be glad if they can get someone normal in there.

Sure, Cheeks got a 3rd interview, but who doesn't nowadays. Let me know when someone gets that key 6th interview....

The no HC experience scares some of us because we sat through the Table Cloth and Cluelesster experiment.....but if four teams have already hired neophytes this summer, then maybe we can try it one more time with Shaw who experts have claimed is the brightest of the bunch. As Barkley said last night , how many times will have to see the same coaches hired and fired because they have lost their motivating skills or are too old school?
