We might be able to squeeze him in after we talk to Wayne Fontes
Ain't going to happen.
Lionel Hollins says he only wants to coach Memphis Grizzlies - ESPN
Chances are that he hasn't seen this thread:
Can we be the Grizz of the East? | Detroit Pistons Forum
I wonder if the New Jersey Nets forum has a "Can we be the Grizz of the East?" thread?
Problem is..........Pistons would hire Wayne Fontes.
Is it just me or does the person labeled as the "leading candidate" for Joe D become the person you instantly start hoping doesn't get the job?
I'm almost 100% indifferent between any of the actual candidates that have been floated. They are all unproven or they have mediocre track records. We're either going to risk going down a Michael Curry route or a Lawrence Frank route.
I'm not even aware of what it was that displeased management with Frank's performance. Was is his caution re: Drummond? Did he lose the locker room? Did they not like his defensive schemes? I'm not saying that I would have kept him, but I just don't know why he was fired. All previous coaches were pretty obvious.
I always thought that the reason Frank was fired was because he seemed unable to adjust his game planning style
to the talent he had available. Wrong guys in wrong roles; limited use of Drummond, even as his skills became more and more obvious - and this wasn't helped by Drummond's injury; unwillingness to drop Maxiel out of the starting lineup despite his limitations; when Middleton was used at SF near the end of the year, it turned out he might have been our best option all along; etc.
If it is as simple as playing time, I'd hope that somebody would have asked him to adjust or notified him that he'd be fired if he didn't.
They should have known exactly what they were getting with Frank due to his extensive history in the league and as an adversary.
I think Frank was just an escapegoat.
Frank reminds me of the atom.
Both make up everything.
If we hire Mo Cheeks or Nate McMillian we would have been better off rolling with Frank another year. There is still not enough scoring power on this team to compete. To many one dimensional players that have similar skills/ weaknesses.
Out of curiosity, what are peoples ideal candidates that are reasonable under these conditions:
#1: Plausibility of coming to take the job - this means no Phil Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy, etc.
#2: Not Bill Laimbeer
#4: Not Bill Laimbeer
Not not Bill Laimbeer would be my pick...
After that, I'd go with Joe Dumars.
Wayno is the man !
Did Herb Brown ever get an interview?
Brian Shaw looked good talking to Roy Hibbert tonight on TV.
Whatever happened to the foreign dude who wanted to use a computer to gain a competitive edge? He was the Phil Jackson of wherever he was from (Poland?) and seems like he'd be a natural fit with the real Phil Jackson waiting in the wings.
I'm experiencing a lot of dread as this thing drags out.
Why can't Gores just come out and fire Dumars before the end of the post season?
Get Shaw, Joe D! Get him now!
But then Dett we would need an "Official GM Candidates thread". One thing at a time.
2 Faygos says we don't even interview Shaw now that we can....LOL
