No, but it fits very well with what Platinum Equity does. They don't always make wholesale management changes to the businesses they acquire. A lot of what they do revolves around using their team of management consultants to tweak operations. Using a consultant to assist management would be very natural to Gores.

If Gores and Jackson are good friends, it probably went like this:

    - So Tom, how are you enjoying NBA ownership?
    - Dude, it's been a disaster.
    - I can tell. You need some help?
    - Hell yeah. Do you know any good coaches? Joe's talking about guy whose name I can't even pronounce. Apparently he is a Serbian version of you.
    - Ha ha ha ha...
    - Ha ha ha haaa....

You've got to figure guys like Pop are telling this cat not to take the Pistons job just like the top NFL coaches would tell their guys to stay away from Oakland and Al Davis. If he's waited this long he doesn't need this job.

This guy seems like he's more in their league unfortunately. He fills the box score of buffoonery.

Time and circumstance. You wait because it feels good to ride on and out a winner. This time around, let us not forget, you no longer are at the mercy of a singular GM who is weakened, or an owner that figures he might become an embarrassment. He will have 100% backing and the players will know it. That is all he needs (whomever that may be).

Seems like a safe way to be mildly competitive with the players that are willing to adhere to conformity.

Darrell Walker may be Joes guy. He learned the trait as an assistant coach behind Curry and Kuester and he is also the brain behind the Summers pick:

NBA rumors: Darrell Walker a candidate for Pistons' coaching job - Detroit Bad Boys

Now that the Nets are going fishing, PJ Carlisemo is now available....wonder if Phil will recommend him??? In fact I wonder now if Phil will think about Brooklyn as a spot for himself??
