I missed that. Perhaps this should be moved to the "Things that make you feel good" thread.

By "kill this thread", you mean post pictures of peacocks and cheerleaders and stuff like that, right?

Greg Monroe is obviously going to play a big part in what we do in free agency. But these are some guys I like who aren't obvious big names.

Gordon Hayward (RFA) - As long as the price tag isn't too steep I like him as our starting 3. Can take pressure off Jennings as an additional ball handler. Reminds me of Ginobili in that regard. Can make plays for others. Shooting suffered and turnover prone last season, but was trying/asked to do too much on a bad Utah team. Not suited to being the man, but would be a great complementary piece. Expecting around $50m/4 years. Something closer to $44m/4 would be nice.

Kent Bazemore (UFA) - Has size and athleticism to play both ends at SG. Put up numbers when he got some minutes after being traded to the Lakers. Cheaper and younger option than what Stuckey provided - like him as 6th/7th man. Solid shooter and can knock down the 3. Not a bad distributor. 24 years old.

Jeff Adrien (UFA) - If we lose Moose and go with Smith/Drummond up front, I like Adrien coming off the bench. High energy, plays hard, rebounding is biggest strength. Looks like he has Pistons DNA (the old stuff). Can be had cheap (made <1m last season).

Every trade scenario that is being discussed out there involving Greg Monroe seems to end up with us taking it in the shorts. I hope we retain that dude.

It's easy. Trade Jennings to a contender for a late 1st rounder and an expiring deal. I don't see how a team (perhaps the Bulls, Pacers, Mavs?) wouldn't go for it. Jennings would be a good back-up to Rose. Jennings is more talented than anything a contender will get in the later part of the 1st round.

Then sign Patty Mills, who will be a free agent this summer. I don't think Spurs would match anything above 4 million per season, as they still have a very good Tony Parker playing, with Cory Joseph ready to step in as back-up PG.

Then, let's see what Smith can do under SVG before we decide on him. SVG will be the best coach he ever had, and SVG won't accept the chucking from Smith. Best case senario is probably Smith being a 6th man of the year-candidate. Or we trade him for a veteran on an expiring deal who can contribute.

If we have the money, Gordon Hayward would be an ideal fit next to Monroe and Drummond.

I love Patty Mills because he is Aussie. But even I don't think he is that good. He also likely will not go away from the Spurs.

Smith isn't going to be the 6th man.

They should un-retire Joe's number so Rodney Stuckey can wear it after he re-signs if Monroe leaves and the Pistons are stuck with Smith and Jennings.

I'm down with any deal that leads to us getting rid of the X-Man.
I just don't see Chicago or other teams being interested in him.
I can't imagine a meeting where the Bulls' GM tells Tom Thibodeau that they've made a deal for Brandon Jennings.
That's a meeting that isn't going to end well. ending well.

Still, I can definitely see some of the contending teams trading for Jennings. I'd even trade him for a 2nd rounder to the Lakers or something. As long as we can get someone else to play PG (Mills, Lowry as examples)

Patty Mills is a system player. Even though he is very young, I suspect last week was the peak of his career.

Leonard and to a certain extend Danny Green are the only players I see on the Spurs roster that can continue to thrive outside of San Antonio.

I don't necessarily think he is a system player - he is capable of big games on his own and carrying a team. But he's not a starting calibre PG as yet. Not until he improves his handles. He outplayed Miami's infinite loop of PG's, but the elite PG's in the league will eat him up on offense.

I like Lowry a lot more than Jennings, but his price tag this summer is likely to be >10m.

Didn't that Barea guy look like a stud when the Mavs won?
