That was interesting watching those matches. He didn't seem overly quick, but nobody could keep him from getting to point blank range. When he was on defense, nobody could get off a shot inside the arc on him without completely rushing it. They really need one on one in the All-Star weekend. I didn't like the Scalabrine rules though with no rebounding.
Yeah, he's not really quick, and not super athletic, but he has a couple moves that are just money, and no one could stop him. I would watch every minute of an NBA All-Star one-on-one game.
The key was that the defenders had to respect his 3-point shot (which was even more deadly since it was double the points). They pressed out on him and then he could drive at will either way and there was no way they were going to take a charge. Every time he'd drive, he'd stop and pump fake and the defender was toast. It is amazing that there are players in the NBA that would take down Scalabrine 11-0 in the same game.
No street baller or HS baller is going to be strong enough to stop him from rebounding everything. That guy probably could deadlift 500+lbs. It would be completely unfair.
That first dude Scal played played for Syracuse last year. Scal was rocking guys whenever there was a collision.
Was watching Bulls v Pacers tonight. I love watching Noah play. He runs the court like a madman. I think he's my favorite player. He should be a lock as a top 3 defender in the L.
He's a guy that exceeded everybody's expectations I think. He really is one of the main reasons Bulls are able to do what they do without Rose.
The last 80 seconds of the Warriors-Raptors game took about 17 minutes, but the Warriors hung on to win 125-117. Some scrub by the name of Amir Johnson came off the bench in a losing cause to score 23 points on 10-10 shooting from the floor and 3-7 from the line. He also grabbed 12 boards and had two block shots. Somebody remind me again why he is gone and Max still has a locker in the Palace?
The Raptors two starting forwards scored 26 points each.... and they had a plus/minus of +8, +9, while Amir was -13. Not that Max is great, you atleast know what your going to get day to day, after all these years Amir still plays like a rookie a great game, followed by a clunker. Hard to believe he's in his 8th season already... LOL.
Don't get me wrong, I'd MUCH rather have Amir than JMax. ...It's just that for every game like this, he'll put-up 10 games where he has 8 points, 4 reb, 2 blks and 6 Fouls in 14 minutes of play.
I think Amir has been a lot more consistent this season, especially since he moved into the starting lineup. In the 21 games he has started he has averaged 35 mins per game and putting up 13.1 pts, 9.4 reb, 2.0 ast, 1.2 stl, 1.8 blk on 57% shooting. He has 11 double-doubles. Max has started all 62 games and put up exactly 4 double-doubles, 2 of which were bare-bones 10-10'ers. Amir is a PF who can REBOUND the ball. Games where Max has played at least 20 mins and had 3 or less rebounds - 11/49. Amir - 1/45. Games where Max has played at least 30 mins and had 5 or less rebounds - 5/12. Amir - 3/27 I'd be a lot more comfortable with 'knowing what I'm going to get' from Amir than Max.
Watched the first half of the Minny/Heat game last night. Rubio would be averaging at least 15 assists if anyone on the Wolves could hit an open shot. And he will definitely lead the league in steals.
Actually Amir was the first off the bench and the game was close all the way until the last 3 minutes. In fact it was his play that kept the game close.
