    Team 2012-13 Record Roster Changes
    1. Indiana 49-32 + Copeland, Watson, rookies -Hansbrough, Pendergraph
    2. Chicago 45-37 + Dunleavy, rookies - Belinelli, Hamilton
    3. Milwaukee 38-44 + Delfino, Mayo, Pachulia, Ridnour, rookies - Dunleavy, Mbah a Moute, Redick
    4. Detroit 29-53 + C-Bill, Datome, Smith, rookies - Calderon
    5. Cleveland 24-58 + Bynum, Clark, Jack, rookies -Casspi, Ellington, Livingston Speights

Indiana will be there and will be a primary contender for the 1st. They are a proven team and they upgraded with Copeland and Watson while holding the remainder of their roster intact. They also added McMillan to their coaching staff.

Chicago will depend on Rose's health. I would also expect that Bulls are going to look to make some other moves after signing Dunleavy. Looks like Robinson may be leaving, so it looks like the team will need an insurance policy at PG. They are also working on the long-term deal with Deng. If Rose is healthy, the Bulls will be a top challenger to Indiana.

Milwaukee is in precarious position due to the FA situation. Jennings is restricted and team seems to be in no hurry to sign him as they are pursuing Teague with the offer sheet while Atlanta has 3 days to decide whether they want to match. If they don't match, it would be a definite upgrade at the PG position and mean that Jennings is gone (maybe in a sign-and-trade with Atlanta). Ellis is unrestricted and looking to leave. It is tough to predict how this team will look, but unless they make other moves I don't see them being any better than last year's record, maybe worse.

Detroit we all know about. Expectations are definitely higher with the signing of Smith. How high will depend on the development of Knight and Drummond and chemistry in the front court. Could finish 3rd in the division.

Cleveland has potentially gotten better depending on the health of Bynum's knee. Jack is a strong addition and a good insurance policy if Kyrie is forced to miss any time due to health issues. The team also has a glut of bigs, so I would expect more moves to balance the roster. This team could be potentially very good depending on development of Waiters, health of Bynum, and other moves that team will put together.

    Good assessment Mik!

I think Indiana and Chicago both have what it takes to knock off Miami.

Indiana had it this year, they were close enough. With that experience under their belt and solid backup PG they'll be more dangerous.

Detroit will be no fun to play against. That is great step.

We are the ones that improved the most, but the Central division is fast becoming a tough division again. I'd say Chicago, Indiana and Milwaukee all made lateral moves so far.

I wouldn't be surprised if we finished 3rd in the division this year.

Following on from this article, there is no reason we shouldn't. The picture is a little clearer with most of the main FA's signed.

    Definitely in:
Miami, Indiana, New York, Brooklyn, Chicago

    Definitely won't:
    Philadelphia, Charlotte, Boston, Orlando

So we're fighting with the rest.
Atlanta - Lost Smith but picked up Millsap. They should still make it.
Milwaukee - Weakened with loss of Ellis, but picked up Mayo. Doesn't look like a winning team. If we finish .500 we'd be above them.
Toronto - No major additions. Natural progression might give them a few more wins but still less than .500
Washington - Health will be key for them. Solid starting 5 when healthy. Definitely a question mark. Healthy wiz will be battling for 8th.
Cleveland - Same deal. If healthy they could be fighting for the playoffs.

I think if we finish .500 or better we'll make it. ATL, DET, WAS is my guess.

Here's a good question. Forgetting the rest of the rosters, contracts, etc - based on talent, which of these starting five's would you want 3 years from now? CLE, WAS, DET. Some good emerging players on these teams. Tough call.

    PG - Irving, Wall, Knight
    SG - Waiters, Beal, Pope
    SF - Bennett, Porter, Smith
    PF - Thompson, Nene, Monroe
    C - Varejao, Okafor, Drummond

Looks like Washington's bigs get up there in age, Varejao's health hasn't been all that either and he'll be 3 years older, I kind of like Detroit :)

In three years, I would take the Detroit roster in 4 of 5 positions. That fifth spot might still play out for Detroit, depending on how development, health, etc. go.

Of course, those three teams are horrible right now...
