Has anyone seen on ESPN when they show Pistons highlights and they refer to Tayshawn as "The Thinman"?

I thought it was a little rude at first, but now I think I actually kind of like it.

I'm not sure how Tay feels about it, but it's kind of funny.

I like it as a nickname, even though the original "Thin Man" wasn't actually a detective, but the guy Nick Charles was searching for.

Nice allusion to a truly annoying song, BTW. In eighth grade we had to sing it for music class and none of the kids in my predominantly black school had even the slightest clue what all those hippy dippy lyrics meant. "Soapsud green like bubble"? Ugh. But we could all get behind "Love Roller Coaster."

I'm not familiar with that reference. Was it a detective show or something?

Speaking of hippie lyrics, how about the Byrds...

Oh I'd rather go and journey where the diamond crests are flowing and run across the valley beneath the sacred mountains and wander thru the forest
Where the trees have leaves of prisims and break the light in colors That no-one knows the names of...

But anyway, I like the THINMAN. Pretty good description. And it seems a little demeaning until you realize that Tay's the Piston to start in all 82 games both of the last 2 seasons. No question about his durability.

Yes, "The Thin Man" was a very popular movie mystery of the 30s that spawned a bunch of sequels, always with "Thin Man" in the title.

Please believe in me when I say ... spinnin' round round round round ...

I'll stop now, since Roscoe will be showing up soon to get us back in line. Except to say that if you want to hear a REAL song by America, you still have to go with "Horse with No Name."

    You guys are SICK !!!

I still don't know what that song was about, but I always loved that phrase, because Oz never did give nothing to the tin man... that he didn't already have.

Now I've got to get that song out of my head...

    Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.......................

It means they had some especially potent drugs while writing those lyrics. lol. I'm not sure they meant anything.

The other day I did look up the meaning to the lyrics from Don Mcleans "American Pie". You can do that easily with a google search if you are really curious.

Oh OH, Roscoe is NOT happy!!!!

Uh-oh. Better get this back on topic before the Thought Police show up ...

Back to nicknames, what better way to name a taciturn Prince than with a silent P? Call him Ptay -- short for Ptayrodactyl. Do something up with Photoshop and you've got a great T-shirt while he's swooping around on the wing.

    Nicknames?

If Vinnie was 007 (after Portland) does that mean Rip is 008 (after Boston)?
