Talk detteam. - In one sentence Artest says he would come off the bench behind James. In another one ( during the same interview ) he says he wants more scoring opportunities. Interesting reading Walsh's comments ( from the line I posted earlier in this thread. ) "I've never heard him say anything before," said Walsh, who acquired Artest in a trade in 2002. "He hasn't talked to me, and I see him every day." Reading that and some of the other articles at IndyStar. Makes me wonder if this could be one of those "Gotcha" kind of interviews. Like when Pippen told a Chic reporter he was retiring back in the late 90's. Just have to wait for the official word from the Pacers and what Artest tells them directly.
This thread What I found most interesting about this thread is not so much the Ron Artest thing, but the belief that there is an absolute need for the Pistons to bring in someone else to score off the bench. The need is there, I believe. 14-2 or not, this team is still one move/trade away from The Promised Land. The Spurs are MUCH deeper.
Artest Traded to New York I just heard that Ron Artest has been traded to New York... Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital... for a schizophrenic, a manic depressive, and a hip-hop cd. I think, maybe, the hospital gave up too much.
Pacers agree to trade him Looks like the Pacers are going to try and grant Ronnie's wish. Donnie Walsh says Pacers will seek Artest trade. They put him on the inactive list while they look for a team to take him (good luck).
bender retires http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_15305.shtml i did not think that this warrented a new thread so here it is JB HANGS THEM UP: "Jonathan Bender is calling it a career – after seeking several opinions on his knee, JB has decided he’ll never get over the pain in his knee and has decided to retire for medical reasons. Bender put his Indiana home up for sale last week, prompting many to speculate he’s done – its was confirmed that he’ll file paperwork on Monday or Tuesday – The Pacers are expected to apply for a medical exception to replace him on the roster." wow this on top of the artest fiasco the pacers are a sinking ship granted bender did not produce for them but that is 1 less option they have while trying to trade ron.
Pistons will get better Got to go with you on that, BUT in yesterdays clippers game the bench shoed they can play. i know flip will play them more and they will get better, and so will this team.
It looks like Artest is headed out West. Long-awaited deal comes to fruition for Pacers ESPN.com The Indiana Pacers have agreed to trade Ron Artest to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Peja Stojakovic pending league approval, ESPN's Jim Gray has confirmed Tuesday.
Yeah that's a good deal for the Pistons... Tayshaun usually plays Peja well... much rather see Ronnie twice a year out west. Good lookout Zoso
Alot of defensive toughness walked out of the door with that trade. I wonder if playing for Bird will revitalize Peja's career. I'm curious to see how this will affect the Pacers nucleus. This is clearly a defensive downgrade. Offensively, this is probably a wash. So.... ~ Advantage Sac-Town Oh, I forgot we are talking about Mr. Team Cancer Arse-Test. ~ Advantage Indiana
this is great news. Peja and SJ are going to be fighting over the ball, while every team can now score on the pacers.
I think it walked out the door twice long before this trade. Once into the stands in Detroit, and again this year with his dumb arse-test comments. They are better off with Peja than nothing. They had to do something and obviously most people weren't interested. Arsetesticles essentially destroyed TWO seasons for them. You know the saying "Fool me once, shame on YOU...Fool me twice, shame on ME! I agree. The Pacers got the better deal in the long term.. Arsetesticles will be a good player for Sacto, but we all know how it's going to end...the question is how soon? The Kings have no class. Arsetest will fit right in. Aren't they the organization that made fun of Detroit on their scoreboard this year? Well, maybe it's not fair to blame an entire organization for one idiots indiscretion. Then again... ***thinks about the Lions***
True, Let's use today as a reference point: The Pacers are scoring 93.8 PPG Their opponents are scoring 91.5 PPG and shooting 43.5% Too bad we didn't capture this the day Ronnie got pined.
I'm just happy Kobe doesn't have to deal with someone else's ego again :P It could have put the kabaash on his MVP hopes.
no artest at the palace this season if the trade hoes through. pistons already have finished there 2 games with the kings.
Pacers 94.2, Opponents 91.0 Not much of a difference. I'm too lazy to pull the shooting % diff. The problem is, Artest was their best +/- player at +7.9 per game. The team average is +2.3 and the only guys currently on the roster better than that mark are Sarunas Jasikevicius (+3.2) and Austin Croshere (+3.5).
I think Ronnie is a better all around player than Peja, so in that regard the Pacers are downgrading. But the Pacers are now a better team than they've been the last 6 weeks, without Ronnie or anyone else to show for him.
Let's hope that Bowen gets traded to Orlando. Then there will be nobody out there to stop rip anymore.
Per SportsCenter: Artest trade is off. Ron got word of the trade and informed the Pacers that he won't play for Sacramento. So Sacramento in turn nixed the trade. My God, nothing is good enough for that crackpot. The following is from ESPN.com's front page: "Artest Trade To Kings Off Ron Artest's saga in Indiana continues on. The Pacers tried to trade Artest to the Kings for Peja Stojakovic, but ESPN's Jim Gray reports the deal is off because Artest turned it down." A very stressed out looking Rick Carlisle was just on SportsCenter, and he said: "There's no trade, and there may not be a trade."
