One name that has not been mentioned too much.

What about trading for Gasol? He was sort of on the block last season.

He would fill our need for a center and would be a lot easier to trade for than Kobe or KJ.

I am thinking start with Prince and Amir Johnson and go from there. Or maybe even Prince and the #15 pick.

His D is suspect. He's kind of soft. Does he fit the "Pistons" mold? And what would be the asking price? There are many questions to answer on this one.

Nobody out there besides Kobe is going to be ideal.

Yes he does have his faults. I thought his defense was above average, its his frequent injuries that bother me.

Look at it this way. Gasol would be a major upgrade from Webber or Mohammed.

It sure would be. But at what cost? I do not oppose to this deal if we don't give up more than 1 core player.

The Grizzlies are for sale which is holding things up from what I hear. None of the assets can be dealt until a new owner comes on board. This hinders the team from trading or signing free agents at this point. Do they even have a head coach yet? Memphis sounds alot like Atlanta in that they are inept organizations with a weak fan base and poor ownership. If I was Pau Gasol I would run from Memphis as fast as I could.

Didn't Memphis want Chauncey? Or was it vice versa?

I believe Marc Iavaroni (Suns lead assistant) is the new coach in Memphis.

I wouldn't endorse trading any youth or high picks for Gasol. His price tag is pretty high, and a guy like Amir has upside and at a much, much friendly cap #, as would our incoming first rounders.

    A future pick, perhaps.

Gee guys its not like he is a scrub or anything. 20 PPG, 8-9 boards and about 2 blocks is not a bad line. At age 26 ( soon to be 27 ) he does still have an upside.

going to make about 13.7 Mil next season with yearly increases ending with 17.8 mil in 2011.

I would go for it but it could be on hold based on what Winless reported.

What to give up? It would take a lot but not as much as getting KG or Kobe.

I would be open to trading Amir along with Prince or Rip ( hopefully Prince ) if the right deal came up.

I like Gasol a lot, but I really like Prince and Amir. I'd rather see Rasheed or Hamilton dealt.

It's not Gasol's D that bothers me, it's his heart. I think in a tight playoff game, he might come down with a case of Nowitzkitis. Pure speculation, of course.
