Alright, so we have gone on and on about our analysis of Kentavious and Tony and how they can help us. I want to know what everyone's thoughts are regarding Peyton. I know he is low man on the totem pole, but we drafted him for a reason, oh and by the way he just happens to play PG. Something we sorely need. Who does he remind you of (hint I know who he reminds me of but I want to hear everyone elses take first). What do you like or dislike about his game?

He could be the most important piece of the draft, despite being drafted low because of his position and also I am sure Mo is going to take a long hard look at him. My question is do you think he sees the light of day in terms of PT and do we keep him after summer league? The one thing he has at this point is confidence at the position and poise, which I don't see from BK. He was the maestro of the Louisville championship team and that amounts for something, that is a well of experience he can draw from. He also has speed, and a great outside stroke. Just wanted to get this conversation started on the forgotten one.

I like that he was the starting PG for the National Champion and that I'm actually familiar with his game. He was also a 4-year college player, which is probably good if we are looking for him to be a role player with immediate contributions (vs expecting development).

The one thing I'd disagree with in your intro is his outside shot (.291 career shooter from 3-point land in college and only .417 total FG%). I only watched him in the tourney from the sweet 16 on, but all scouting reports seem to call him a defensive stopper with unbelievable speed and offensive weaknesses. He was a hustler and the speed is obvious.

After reading a bunch of them, I was imagining his role to be 3rd string PG and situational sub... maybe like Lindsey Hunter's role at the end of his career. He's also mentioned as being undersized, but measures 1" shorter than Burke I believe and didn't have a huge problem against him.

In the combine, he surprised with his strength in the bench and he also had incredible hops.

Maybe he's best offensively when we're running.

Cheeks has some work to do with these guards, but there is talent there. I could see Silva getting some time behind the starters, but it had better be with a group that is otherwise really good offensively (or defensively).

If the Pistons managed to nab Iguodala, I do like the defensive potential of the following group:
    PG Silva
    SG KCP
    SF Iguodala
    PF Mitchell
    C Drummond

Siva is a defender and really struggles on offense, not just scoring. He is often out of position and usually just passes around the perimeter.

Until that improves, he is a 10mpg guy, best to sub in for stopping scoring runs.

Wasn't Knight the starting PG on a National Champion also?

I hope this guy can make the team. I suppose he's a pretty good candidate for the sport coat squad if he does.

I see him as a L. Hunter type of a pest defensively...a specialist off the bench.

I'm rooting for him but he may need to follow singler's path outside the NBA.

At worst case, we sign him and let Bynum walk and save $3 million.

Would this give the Pistons more wins or less? I say less.

Unless you are counting on Siva/Bynum for more than about 5 minutes per game, I think it would be a wash.

I hope we'll be signing another guard this summer, so the 11th/12th man on the roster shouldn't matter much as far as wins and losses go.

If it was my choice I'd rather not spend any money this year and let the kids play and see where we actually need major help. We have to however meet a minimum salary this coming year.... So spend we will have to do and .outside of a PG I'm not sure if there is a FA out there that we can get that I actually do want.

I wish we could convince Paul to come to Detroit... but Pipe dream, and after that there is not anybody out there IMO that makes us instant contenders.

I think we take on another BIG contract for somebody to sit on the bench this year might be our best way to go, get an old PG to help with the kids teaching and an old big for the same thing, but just play the kids this coming year... be exciting and interesting to see what we have.... just hope we have a coach that can grow the kids and get the most out of them.

I want a team I feel is giving there all every night.

Letting go of Bynum.....and then keeping Stuckey....would be a bad omen for this team.

Five straight years in the lottery. That's one way to get a new starting lineup over a 5-year span. We would need to draft a SF next year.

Let the tanking begin.....Andrew Wiggins (Kansas) or Jabari Parker (Duke)?

No, but what is out there that we don't have to overpay for? besides Paul I don't think there is one player out there worth chasing... I'm all for spending money, when its spent smartly. Or we can do a repeat of last time....

I honestly don't think were nearly as bad as our record was last year. with what we have right now with only a minor player added at the PG I expect us to make the playoffs... we had the talent last year we really had no excuse to not be in the playoffs.

    I'm the ever optimist though...

Well, one of the CBA rules states that a team must spend at least 90% of the salary cap.

With a salary cap of $58.5 million, 90% of that makes $52.65 million.

If they pay Stuckey $8.5 million and do not amnesty Villenueva, they will be at $35.17 million for 2013-14.

That means the Pistons MUST SPEND AT LEAST $17.5 million this summer.

Thanks everyone for your take. Before you brand me as delusional and crazy, I see a lot of Parker in his game. By that I mean he is quick and appears to be out of control (in a good way) when he is in the lane, but it is a controlled recklessness ala Parker and Ginoboli. He appears to me to be fearless and takes care of the ball and gets it to players sweet spot. KGREG, I always read your posts with interest and respect your posts, but I think you are being overly dismissive with this one when you compare him to HOJO or Goldwire. This kid strikes me as being cerebral from the way he conducts himself to his interviews. He is trying to figure it out and seems to do what it takes to get better. I'm not saying he is a savior or anything but that he seems to have the traits that intrigue me. Only time will tell on how this plays out, but we will get a look soon enough in SL.

This video is pretty cool. I was surprised by the little dude's hops. Some of the blocked shots and dunks are very nice.

I think people forget it took Tony Parker a few years to get it, and Popovich almost gave up on him when Jason Kidd was available as a FA.
