[sour grapes]If the Cavs wouldn't have sat Kyrie Irving on Saturday for "precautionary measures", I would have beat Rascoe. Talk about a lucky win.[/sour grapes]
Taking a chance on my lineup this week. I have some guys playing 5 games which always makes it tough whether to start them over better players with 4. I have Andrew Bynum and Mike Conley benched due to injuries (uncertain status), and I have decided to take a punt and bench Griffin due to his killer FT% (of the bad variety). I feel like I can get by without his points and boards. Genius or chump move? Time will tell.
I've "over-Managed" the Malcontents to the point of destroying our chances of a consolation round victory. It all came down to not enough quality players on my roster combined with not enough quality players in the FA pool. I kept pressing buttons hoping to find a scrub that would get hot at the right time. My strategy upon taking over this ball club was to replace crappy players with other crappy players who had 5 games in a given week. The only thing that strategy produced was more crap. We need to have a good draft or this team will be a bottom dweller for years to come. We're officially in year one of a total rebuild and I'm not gonna use Dumards' method of re-signing the entire squad.
LOL. Even if you wanted to, you can only keep 4 players from your current squad. The rest will be tossed into the available player pool. You could try to draft them back, but I'm sure they will be gone like hotcakes...
Some of the other guys may disagree, but I think there are 2 elements of victory in this league. 1. You need to fill roles. Pick 6 categories you will compete in. 2. Maximize the number of games played. If you can do those things week in and week out, you should have a positive record.
I know. It's more fun when luck is on your side, though. Anyway, congrats on the victory. It was well-earned. Good luck throughout the playoffs!!!
Oh heck yeah. I realize that you need to punt a few categories and build your team with a focus on certain areas to maximize success. It's tough to do when the FA shelves are empty and the trade deadline has passed. I wasn't able to go out and get a bunch of dimes/steals guys or blocks/rebs/FG% guys. The last few weeks, it came down to decisions like 'I need a couple of guys that average more than 17 minutes per game'. I had some good pickups that did well for me but I just couldn't wheel & deal to surround 'em with complimentary players. I was ahead of the curve on guys like ZaZa and Klay Thompson but those are two guys that don't really help each other to win a week. I'm looking forward to the draft. There's not gonna be much left for me in the way of keepers but I'm gonna draft better than everyone else and develop from within. Then there's the aspect of moving the Mal's to Denver and getting our guys 'hooded-out so we can do what we do. We be straight gangsta bawlin next year and you fools gon' be sorry you every invited the Mile-High Squirrels to your little rave with your lame techno music and shiny little glow-sticks! We don't foul & grab - we're FOUL and we STAB! We don't shoot threes - we shoot GATS! We don't block shots - we shoot GLOCKS! Keepers? ...FEAR THE FUTURE!!!
BDL, Linwood's team was pretty crappy for a couple seasons and he lead the league this year so a good draft can turn a lot around. Getting a key keeper can make a big difference. I have a friend who badly wants to play in this league, a super good guy, so I might lobby webz to expand, in which case, we might see more roster turnover as we re-allocate players.
interesting, I thought that you had forgotten to adjust your lineup when I saw that you took Thompson over Blake
Thompson has been playing well and has 5 games this week. The Randy Foye spot start worked out pretty well so far. 8 three's yesterday! I put him in my lineup purely to help win 3's.
Consider this my official petition to join Keeper League next season. I can't bear the thought of not being able to host the Denver Squirrels several times a season.
And just when I thought the Cogs couldn't get any worse. Dumars could learn from my example of earnestly trying to win while only succeeding in tanking. What a bunch of losers. Is there a summer trading season?
Man, I have dropped a bunch of injured guys (Lopez, Gallinari, etc.) and I still have 6 injured players on my roster (Wade, Irving, Stuckey, Amare, Pekovic, Anderson). Perhaps Webz can add a trainer position (I'll pick up Arne Kander) next season.
"Raymond Felton with 30 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 three pointers, 2 steals, .667 from the field, and perfect from the line. All of this in his first week as a starter. Linwood's been sitting him on the bench all season... You my dog, Ray" -Charlie Villanueva Head of Media and Public Relations
Need to outscore Linwood by 57 pts to win this matchup today. A big game from the Celts would give me a shot as I have 7 guys playing to his 3.
