My team is just starting to wake up.
Nice game Roscoe. You came close to winning. Don't feel too bad about falling short, my team was built for the Consolation Bracket Playoffs. Sent from outerspace
I was so tired last night when I posted, I thought it was Sunday night, not Saturday night. I am still in this. Barely.
I like the snake draft format. I'd rather have pick 1 and 20 than 10 and 11 any day. #1 is basically like getting a 5th keeper. IMO, this league is won on the waiver wire anyway.
Dwight Howard and Anthony Davis are officially in the doghouse. Losing them each for a game late this week KILLED me in this tight matchup.
And I think I agree with BDL about the draft format. I'm still thinking about it, though.
AAAAGHHH! I wish it was Sunday. Looks like you took the victory and the number one pick. Damn. Congratulations Roscoe.
Wow, thanks friend. That was crazy close. I was refreshing the box score every 5 minutes for the last couple hours. It doesn't get much closer than this.
This week Final: #2 BDL v #4 webz 3rd place: #1 Ralphi v #3 CJ Draft picks for next season already locked in: 1. Roscoe 2. Linwood 3. DBA 4. Winless 5. Slippy 6. Laimbeer
Good luck mate!
Take that trash talk out of here.
Shut it, BDL.
I remember offering my entire roster to you for Anthony Davis earlier this season. In hindsight, you should have accepted that deal. We have a chance to repeat. Looking at our roster, we probably don't desrve to be here.
So, you think your team is too good to be here? Keeper League used to be about sportsmanship and humility. You see what expansion has done to it...
I am happy we sort of redeemed our horrible season by capturing the #1 pick.
After day-1 of championship competition, the Wombats have a slight edge in rebounding 70 - 14 over the Squirrels. My team is already in a 0-1 hole for the week as far as the 9 categories are concerned.
But, but, you've got TO already locked up. ;P Played an extra PF this week cos I had to sit Westbrook. He had 3 games of which one he'd be sitting due to being a back to back. Hopefully it doesn't hurt me elsewhere.
The snake draft (yes, I'm a little behind) is the fairest if there is a consistent drop off in player value from the best to the worst. It becomes more and more unfair to the top pickers if value falls off rapidly - if a graph of player ability was a straight line with players ranked from best to worst then ability falls off consistently, if the graph curves downward sharply after the top few, then ability does not fall off consistently and the top pickers are penalized. Clearly the latter is the case, but perhaps not so strongly for the first couple of rounds. So maybe the best draft is a snake for three or four rounds and then consistent picks for the rounds following (if you pick first, you pick first in every round after four or five). I'm guessing ESPN or Yahoo don't do that.
It does even out over the long run. If you think about where Rascoe is picking, he will only get 1 player out of the first 19 where everyone else will have 2 in the top 19. If you go two picks later, though, Rascoe will have 3 of the top 21 players where everyone else would only have 2 guys. In my baseball draft last night, the guy with the first pick took Mike Trout, far and away the best player. It was only fair that he would have to wait with a snake draft for this to even out some. After thinking about this, snake or auction are the best choices in my opinion. As stated, auction isn't fun unless most everyone can make it.
Ok I am happy we're having this debate because you guys are smart and bring more perspective to the opinion I had started to form. I am ok if we stay with snake or change it to be honest because it's really subjective where the value in the draft lies, and each draft will be different so there is no one size fits all answer.
