I'm ok with auction draft. Is it possible to pull off if people can't make it?

Also, how about drafting Tater and Jammer? Or will they flee to uhm.. Canada. Maybe they will elope to Mexico. Either way, we'll hunt them down on Yahoo.

I'm actually excited about this. But I'm moving this week, so I won't be able to beat on ESPN for a few more days.

I'm in. I'm going to draft KG. I hope he has a safe, healthy season.

This was the thing I was worried about as well, but I've done some more investigation and participated in a Mock Auction draft on the ESPN website. I now believe we will be able to have a Full Auction draft, not a split one as I previously proposed.

ESPN has a default maximum bid price for all players which can be manually changed by everyone in the league. Therefore, anyone not able to make the draft can set their default prices and the system will auto-draft according to this, or they can use the default set by ESPN.

However, it will not keep bidding up to the max of each player, it will randomly choose a value between 50-110% of the set value so as not to completely destroy a team with 3 or 4 auto-picks at max prices, leaving nothing for the rest of the team.

I urge everyone to check out this link which explains everything to do with the Auction draft.

    ESPN Auction Draft settings

And I also suggest participating in a Mock Auction on the site a couple of times before the draft to get a feel for the draft system and likely bid prices for players. Considering most of us haven't done an Auction before, we don't really know what is an overvalued or undervalued price.

I'm still researching and testing, this is just an update.

It will be interesting to see the new format. If it sucks...live and learn. No concerns here. I'm just gonna sit back a wait for Linwood's team to unravel...right before my team does!:nerd2:

You can certainly register your interest for sure! But as mentioned previously we won't be filling out positions in the league just yet.

PM me your email address and you can still test out the ESPN platform in the mean time.

I just tried out the ESPN auction mock draft. I LOVE IT!!!! It is great. It makes you fill like a real GM with a salary cap.

The ESPN Auction is pretty slick. If we are going to do an auction, why not do the entire team selection with an auction? I don't see how you would just use the top 50 players with an auction. Wouldn't people select a different number of players?

I think the Auction Draft is much better than a snake draft. You can get the player you want if you are willing to pay the price no matter where in the draft you are. The draw back is if you over pay for one player the rest of your team may suffer.

Yeah I already amended this proposal a few posts ago. The initial idea was before I'd tried out the Mock Auction. I thought it was going to take a lot longer.

Definitely a Full Auction draft is the way to go. Thanks Bill.
