If only Don Nelson wasn't 185 years old. He would be perfect for this team right now.
Forced choice, Mo or Flip? I'd take Flip at this point.
Is this a Fear Factor challenge? -- I'd actually go with Mo. Neither is capable of winning IMO; at least Mo has a history of marginally improving point guards he coaches.
Flip would at least get us to game 6 of the ECF.
Not with this team. I think the results would be about the same. Maybe slightly higher scoring, and even less defense (is that possible?).
Flip >> Frank > Kuester > Mo
We'd have been above .500 the whole season with Flip. Our season wins total would be like 45-48 wins.
When Flip left Detroit, he went to the Wizards. His record was worse each year, with 26 wins (winning percentage .317), 23 wins (.28), and on track for 12 victories (.118) before he was fired. A lot of Flip's success in Detroit was taking over an incredibly talented team that was already playing together at an incredibly high level. I'm not a fan of Cheecks yet, but I think Auerbach, Daly, and Jackson working together would be lucky to get 48 wins out of this team this season. Maybe in three years, but not this season.
Please don't talk that way about flip.
Flip was not designed to take over that bunch. He was in over his head. I think Daly and Jackson could squeeze 50 wins out of our bunch this season.. I believe that's the maximum current potential that was left on the table for this season.
You have more faith in coaching than I do!
I really believe that the right coach in the right situation can make a Huuuuuggggeee difference.
Classic malcontent. Uncoachable.
