Could someone fill me in on the origin of this nickname? I (very lazily) searched the forum and couldn't find the explanation. Is it because when he first came to the NBA he remarked about how little supervision they had on the road, and you could (paraphrasing) "take a playstation or a woman into your hotel room?"
I believe a member of the forum spotted Carlos playing a video game while sitting on the bench during a summer league game.
Thanks - that too funny. Let's hope he earns a court related nickname soon, instead of the bench related one. I'm also hoping it has something to do with slashing to the hole (prompted by the fact that he starts doing that more).
John Mengelt - Crash Chancey Billups - Mr. Big Shot Tayshaun Prince - Silent Assasin (at UK) Eddie Miles - Golden Arm Richard Hamilton - Rip Dave DeBusschere - Big D Walt Bellamy - Bells
Did Kevin Porter have a nickname? Mengelt is Brother HQs favorite player. Porter is #2. He'll be a big help to this thread when he comes around. armygirl too. They're old skool Cobo folk. Congoman, you out there?
My favorite is the one John Sally gave to William Bedford....Willie B...according to Sally this stood for "Willie B here for practice today"? etc.
How about... Fennis Dembo = Glasshopper Cliff Levingston = House (cause he put up so many bricks) Don Reid = the Chief
Did we forget the most talked about player on these boards?... HVC We forgot to collect the Serbian import tax.
I will take credit for that one from the pre-PF.com days over at the detnews forum. After hearing Vegas summer league reports of him thumbing his Playstation on the bench and not paying attention to the floor, it was a 'play'full and sarcastic barb-moniker I figured I'd throw out there just to make micro laugh (the guy's just way too serious :P ). However...I will not lie in saying I figured last summer that his days with the Pistons were numbered. I think we've all been happily surprised by most of his PT this season I hope the moniker grows in acceptance and Carlos pays me royalties some day...or would those be paid to Sony? Damnit!...I can't even buy free tickets to a game with satirical genious!
Anyone remember when Vinnie Johnson had the "Brooklyn Bridge" as his nick? This was before the Microwave.
How about Marvin "Bad news" Barnes and Eric "Easy" Money and Jumpin Joe Caldwell and Chuck "the stork" Nevitt
