I do remember the Grant Hill trade in which a 27 year old Ben Wallace (Troy Murphy is 28) came into Detroit after being on a mediocre Orlando Magic team.

IMO, we have youth, we have height, we have draft picks. I'm not saying Murphy can bring strength, but it's not like he is old, and his skill set (great shooting, passing, and rebounding) translates well into your mid 30's. See: Big Z and Sabonis.

Yea, that statement kind of scared me. I think he was trying to masquerade the fact that he is getting desperate.

Bean counters run everything. It's better that way. It means Joe has to satisfy the fans, with at least an entertaining product, if not a winning one.

The Pistons are not in the business of owning a basketball team or employing Joe Dumars. They are in the business of satisfying fans, who will only part with their money to watch a basketball team which pleases them.

Why not? Joe spent money in the last off- season just to spend money too.

I don't think that's true I believe he spent money not assuming he could land one of the big free agents. As a business move I think it was the right way to go. It would have been a huge risk on joes part.

Yeah I guess it would have been better if he said if we can make a move to improve we most certainly will, but I wouldn't necessarily call it double speak. I would say it's choosing your words carefully lol.

I think if Joe could pull off a trade like say........Tay/Rip and KB for Al Jefferson, I'd be all for it. Git R done Joe!

My guess is that Joe has had a meeting with the owner and he now on the clock career wise. He wants to be prudent with his decisions as the last set of signings so far [STRIKE]have been a bust[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]have been worth jack[/STRIKE] have not achieved the standard the ownership is accustomed to. :stirthepot:

I don't think there is currently any pressure on Joe right now. His job is not at risk. He was just named GM of the Decade. He's going to be given a little more slack before he is under the gun.

Joe goes through these panic modes, but his back was covered by Mr. D. It is no longer the case.

You have institutional methodology about to kick in. The Pistons are nearly 50% down from the last 5 years. It will not get better.

Just warning you, but, the typical follow up to a comment like this is a post by the same person stating, "Rascoe, will you please stop sending me obscene PM's?"

    (I'm just saying....so don't shoot the messenger).:behindsof

Who says we have to choose between those two?

If it did come down to taking one of those two, I'd definitely take Stuckey.

Sounds right Laim... I don't think a political career would pay what he's making... this is what Joe does best... Joe would be unemployed for about 5 seconds.

I heard nothing of any substance from Dumars. What long term problems? Cap moves? Anything to improve the team - probably not. That would just not be like Joe these days.
