Would it be possible to acquire both Lee and Milsap with our available cap space. I believe we are reportably 16 to 17.7 under the cap and could possibly offer similar deals to both Milsap and Lee. Maybe even sweeten the deal by clearing cap space i.e Amir and draft pick. I would love to have Milsap at the 4 and Lee at the 5 although he is a bit small. However, Ben was the same height and we was our starting center for years. What do you guys think?

I like this. While he may cost us 9 to 10 mill a season we probably would not have to give up much to get him maybe a couple of draft picks due to the fact that New York doesn't want to take on salary.

The article insinuates that the Knicks want to do a sign-n-trade with Lee (who is a restricted FA) in a cap clearing move. My question is, since the Knicks don't want to add any significant payroll, couldn't we just make him an offer? Why would they match if we did? No need to do the trade it seems.

Absolutely yes to this deal!!!! Milsap at the 4 and Lee at the 5 would dominate the league. The only question would be which jersey to get after they signed.

Ah yes, that thread. I read some puff piece from Piston.com TrueBlue or whatever it is and it was re-capping the year. It got to the whole training camp thing and all of Curry's promises. I had totally forgotten the decoy/multiple people handling the ball stuff. I'm such a fool!

Let's think about this David Lee and Paul Milsap thing a second. David Lee and Paul Milsap are both undersized. Lee is 6'9 and Milsap (aside from being tight with LeBron) is 6'8. Ben Wallace was/is 6'9 and undersized. See where I'm going with this?

If the Pistons signed both these guys it would be like having 2 Ben Wallace's on the team!

Plus the Pistons got Dave Cowens on their coaching staff to mentor Lee on the C position. We'll finally get a chance to see Big Red shine if they can bring in his type of player instead of the lazy gunners they've had here recently.

I have not heard too much of Utah not wanting Milsap. Here we have some apparently solid evidence that the knicks may want to part with Lee. I say go for it. Be a lot cheaper than Boozer and will have enough money left over for the rest of the team - like getting a real Center at some point.

Lee may be that up and coming young guy that we have been looking for.

I'm not entirely sold on Lee he shows promise and he's definitely the best thing we could get this off season but he's no savior is he? I think the system had a lot to do with his production this year.

I have also read that Donnie Walsh is interested in Gortat for MLE money, an amount Orlando is sure not to match, and maybe too much for Joe too.

We could potentially acquire both Lee (somewhere around 8 mill?) and Gortat, and still have dough left over for an athletic 3. Front court problems solved! Pass99, its time for the fulcrum to stop swinging (or something like that!).

The knock on Lee is that he's not such a great defender. However, given his age, and the fact that if we sign a true 5 like the Polish Hammer alllowing Lee to play D at his natural position (if his foot speed is the problem, he'll be an even worse defender at the 4), I'd look at that deal long and hard.

My hesitation stems from the fear of committing around 12-14 mil per year over 4-5 years for a front court that could turn out to be a bit 'stiff', and certainly nothing like the Wallace x2 combo we were spoiled with in the past.
