Pistons inconsistent but still best in East - 01/03/07 - The Detroit News Online Good read.
Why does Orlando have better odds to win the title this year than Detroit? 10-1 vs. 12-1. They are giving Orlando the same odds as the Bulls?
Sounds to me like Legler and Kerr are "waffling"
Odds are only computed by what the general public is currently wagering. It doesn't have anything to do with common sense or scientific analysis. My guess is that Orlando was originally around 25-1 and those odds dropped after large wagers by Lee356 and BBallJay.
(1) I wouldn't count out Washington. I believe they are going to do some damage in the playoffs. (2) I'd much rather have an "easy" road to the finals than get beat up so bad by Miami that we have nothing left for the Spurs, like in 2005.
I would. Don`t let the smooth taste fool you. They play this same song every year; Arenas blazing hot, Jamison and Butler providing solid play, however, the same results. I admit, this team can be dangerous and advance to the second round but if you mean (don`t count them out) winning it all. I would have to say hell to the no!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not feelin' the wiz either :^) Not until they can stop anyone.
It's not like Cleveland blew them out last year. That series was decided by a hairs width. Cleveland then almost took us out. We've arguably become a worse team since then. I don't think much separates the teams. I can see Washington possibly winning two rounds and advancing to the ECF, before losing. I'm not saying they will, but I can't say with confidence that Detroit, Miami, Cleveland, Chicago, or Orlando will be there either. At least not right now. Can you?
Then we can count out Detroit too, if that's the case. :(
The Bulls game is the perfect test to see where this team will be going. I know this team can make the Finals if they are healthy and everyone's ready (bench players developed). If the Pistons can get to the Finals anything could happen. This Pistons may not be as good as before, but with an easier road to the Finals maybe that won't matter. If the bench keeps doing good, and the starters are ready to play come playoff time they will be better than last year.
YES. I live in the Wiz backyard and I know this team. The east is weak but when the Wiz become the best team in the EC the NBA has gone to hell in a handbasket........at least if it happens this year!
Just looking at the standings, and there is only one team in the East with a winning road record...the Pistons. In the playoffs their will be games that you have to win on the road. The Bulls and Cavs are close in record to the Pistons because they have faced less WC teams, and have played more home games.
It took 20 games for the Pistons to asert themselves. With CB and Sheed not 100% it will take another 20 games to reasert the Pistons. The cream is still rising. Just slow as molasses.
pistons are still the best team in the east. chauncey's injury is a blessing in disguise. it will expose flip murray and break delfino out. flip will be traded and all will be well. if we face orlando in the playoffs i'm worried. d. howard is a beast, grant will be healthy, ariza is breaking out, darko shuts people down. they have the pieces if grants body and leadership can hold them together they can make it to the finals.
They also have Jameer Nelson as their starting point guard, and he's worse defensively than Earl Boykins.

Some of those fundamental flaws will be worked out as the season goes. And some new flaws will be found.
"It will expose Flip Murray." "And break delfino out." Only half correct their jay. I wish Chauncey will stay on the bench, and Delfino would be given a chance.
I dunno. Jay is kinda right. Delfino has definitely broken out. That might not stop the coach from limiting his minutes, but just prior to CB going down, Flip Murray was buried in the rotation. Carlos is giving us everything we could expect from an 8th man, maybe even a 7th.
Yep. Give Bballjay credit, he nailed this one.
