Orlando is on pace for the 5th pick now. Using the rest of the year to develop Darko probably means that their draft position won't fall much. Also, if it is protected, they will have extra motivation to tank the year out towards the end. I don't think that we are going to get the draft pick in the end.

I agree I think Orlando will finish lower than 5. However, if we can get an unprotected 2007 draft pick I would be very happy. I really don't think Orlando will be that good in 2007 either. Nelson and Darko still have a lot to prove and it isn't going to happen over night. Not to mention Hill is pretty much done and Steve Francis is the kiss of death (along with Stephon Marbury) to any franchise. Besides Oden comes out in 2007. He will be the "next best thing"!!!

Here's a link for all the Darko fans. Your new house is ready for you to move in to (if the deal gets done).

If you read the thread that is dedicated to the trade you will realize that the Magic fans are about 50-50 on whether or not this would be a good trade for them..

I also read a thread titled "What would you do if you were GM". Funniest post --> "I would kill myself"

Just looked at HoopsHype draft simulator, it's a long shot but Orlandos pick could materialize into a player like Rudy Gay or Shelden Williams.....in spite of the Demons NBA curse.

Orlando has had the most amazing luck with their lottery. On the other hand, having the #2 pick fall in your lap was pretty damn lucky too.

Possible free agent PG's if the deal does go down and we don't trade for another PG, Erick Strickland and Travis Best are both on the market I believe. don't know too much about either of them any thoughts on them fitting into our team??

anybody else think our season will go down tubes if Billups was to get injured and Hunter is our new starting PG? I can't believe we make this deal without nelson included.

Been watching Rudy Gay all season here in Storrs. The guy is like Prince. Incredibly long and great shooting range. Would fit well into Flipstone's offense.

    Re: Pistons-Orlando trade *RUMOR*

I don't like that trade- sure, it's important to have the starting unit remain together but HOW important? Until now, Joe D has put together some guys who weren't demanding big money and the fans loved them.
Now there up for the big money and hell knows what's going to happen.
Prince (I hope no one believes I'm a Prince- hater) received his fat contract with the hope he's going to improve and he hasn't.
No one knows if CB is going to stay such a strong player, same for Ben as I pointed out in another topic. Can we afford having a strong starting 5 and Mc Dyess with a bunch of scrubs who still have alot to prove?
We ain't got no Horry-like bench player that we'd certainly need, comes playoff time.
Wade would have killed these Pistons last season without his injury in the playoffs. Some people forgot how lucky we advanced- and I don't see Flip giving Delfino heave minutes in an Eastern COnference Final. And I also don't see Prince stopping Wade only a little bit.
Arroyo is way more important for this team as many think. We'd need a solid PG if we'd trade Darko- don't many of you simply overrate Hunter?

    Re: Pistons-Orlando trade *RUMOR*

Can we put this crap to bed?

The Heat had like eight days to sit around while the Pistons were coming in directly off another Indy slugfest. They can't stay healthy, too bad. They can't win with a homecourt edge, too bad. Meanwhile the Pistons are silently carrying around a Larry Brown situation that would have killed lesser teams, but they find a way to win DESPITE the fact that the team's offensive potential was clearly muzzled in light of what's occurred this season.

Lucky, my ass. That kind of excuse fits a team that dances in the locker room the first time they beat a top team in a meaningless midseason game.

I don't like this trade as it stands. Cato, cap space and a pick (I'd also prefer 07), is fair value for DMC, IMO.

I'm not seein "equal value" for Arroyo. :tsk:

Looks like Joe said "no thanks" to Vasquez. :yield:
