Oh, that's classic. Clearly, the Sheed one would be difficult. They should do Pistons of the past, too. Tripucka had some choppers that would look right at home on the side of a pumpkin.

It says that parental supervision is required for these pumpkin stencils but I just gave my kids a couple of sharp knives and let them go at it.

    Thanks Lamb!

Is it just me or does that Ben one look like some Asian dude and nothing like Ben Wallace?

My wife was just asking me if I wanted to carve pumpkins this year and I said no. But this changes everything!

You know at first glance, I thought they were really good likenesses but after closer inspection you are right. Why does Ben look like Mr. Miagi from the Karate Kid?

I don't trust my kids with sharp knives. I told them they could do some carving, but they would have to use my Black & Decker saws and my Dremel. They seemed okay with that. I haven't heard any screams from the other room yet.

Well, Bill it sounds like you're a bit overprotective. I like to look at situations like these as learning experiences for youngsters. Sure they might end up in a knife fight or cutting off a finger but you can't be hovering around them all the time or they'll never learn to fend for themselves.

Yeah, the Ben is the only one that doesn't look quite right. I might give the Mr. Big Shot pumpkin a try. On another note the pics make for great avatars.

    Hooper rules!

This is a little late, but here is the Hooper pumpkin that I carved for Halloween. I'm glad I didn't try the more advanced ones. No major injuries or excessive bandages were needed as a result of the carving process...

Classic stuff on the Hooper design. It's unfortunate that pumpkins rot and the Hooper Pumpkin can't be rolled out of the closet for next year. I wonder if there is a way to preserve a pumpkin. I guess you can't toss it in a jar with some formaldahyde - like we did with Aunt Marge's brain. :)

Isn't it funny how just about everyone has an Aunt Marge brain in a jar on their mantle?

You are right about the pumpkin decomposing. It is looking more like Latrell Sprewell than Hooper on the front porch right about now. I'll have to go with a new design next year. Anyway, it was a lot of work this year explaining to every Trick-or-Treater who Hooper is....

I made the Sheed one last year. I'm thinking maybe CB for this year, although I remember it being a lot of work last year, so I might just wimp out and go with hooper.
