So he went from paying Darko $4 mil a year to paying Darko's backup in Memphis $4 mil a year.... I still don't get this one.

Armygirl, when it comes to breaking Pistons news you are truly the queen of scoops.

This is a pretty low-risk deal. It seems like a reasonable gamble. As someone pointed out in another thread, he did have have 30 points and 19 boards in one game (unfortunately it was four years ago). Maybe by working with Dave Cowens and Sheed (if he's still here) he can get his act together.

Too young, picked way, way too high. It's the Darko syndrome.

After thinking about it, and getting over the initial "WTF" reaction, if he's our Theo replacement then i'm Ok with this. The least he could do is push around Kendrick Perkins (or at least not get pushed around).

He does play very good post defense. In fact, it's actually surprising how at times you thought the Lakers could use him against BOS w/o Bynum.

If he can get a handle on his cupcake mentality that would be better. There's less pressure here, and it takes a long time before the fans will ever boo you so hopefully he gets comfortable and Sheed doesn't make him cry.

However, If Sheed is the big that gets traded, and Kwame is his replacement, i'll need a very large bottle of tequila.

Pistons sign Kwame Brown 8 mil over 2 years

ESPN - Agent: Grizzlies forward Brown agrees to two-year deal with Pistons - NBA

Kwame's a Piston now. I think he's a good backup center at the least and possibly a starter against big frontcourts. People bash him a lot because he was drafted #1 but he's actually a decent defender and rebounder IMO. The biggest upside is that he's still young and still moldable by the staff we have here. Hopefully Curry and crew can help improve him. I think he's still got some potential to work with.

my bad didnt see army girls thread please delete

The Josh Smith or Artest deal is really coming into focus. It is no doubt that a trade will happen, as it stands now if we keep all of our bigs along with Theo, we are seriously loaded in the frontcourt.

Perhaps this will move J-Max to the 3? Doubtful, but barring any other moves, we still don't have a legit backup for Tay. Though as you said, I'm sure there's more in the works. :nailbiting::fingerscr

(On a side note, it took me forever to find this little bugger :fingerscr
in the list. I knew he was in there, I just couldn't find him!)

I'd be ok with it if he gets traded for Dwight Howard.

Joe just signed a 5 and 5 player, the guy behind Darko on Memphis' depth chart, to a $4 mil per year contract? This is it. :nerd2:

This is officially Joe's Jump the Shark moment.

The only logical reason is the team really missed having a HVC around.

Just ain't reading the right boards. This was not that much of a surprise.

Center is where we are weak at. Good move.

But does this top the Nazr deal?

That was a pretty big stinker and looked like a panic move to me.

Short deal. Not too expensive. But I sort of remember saying about Nazr, "At least its not Kwame"
I'm not very happy about this move.

This is typical Joe Dumars genius at work. He looks at not the player's over all talent, but what skills does that player have. And he looks at the team not as how much talent it has overall, but what talents, collectively, the team has. Our team lacked a center. Now it does not.

No matter how I tried to come up with a rotation for next season, with what we had, I could not. Now I can. A rotation with all the pieces. Guess what thread I am heading to next.

Is there a prize for guessing correctly? I won't play unless there's a prize.

Definately fills a need, although is it the need we need... need?

We need to need the need before we need to fill the need. (rimshot)
