Where's McCoskey and other local writers on this one? That really tells us how much do they actually know.
This is a fairly stable move with reservations: Big body who has learned to stay in the paint Great market price for 4 million a year Took a pay cut and should be motivated No pressure coming off bench Only 26 If Sheed or Dyess get hurt you still have a big body that is agile Not a nasty market town like CA or NY, so he will get his chances. _________________________________ Needs to come to the team in shape Mental attitude has to pick up and he should be helped by Curry Needs to work on FT or he ends up like B.Wallace at game's end Not a bad passer and will need to pick up flow from active wings and their are no bone-heads on the current squad...with the exception of the PF crew.
There's only one writer who actually knows anything, and that's Keith Langlois. But he works for the Pistons, so he would never post anything that might interfere with Joe's negotiating strategy.
We got a player who will play to the level of his salary. He'll earn his money. This is not a big deal. Not the transaction that Joe promised. Another one of Joe's MLE specials.........
$4mil a year? I still don't get it. But for that much money, Kwame is definately going to be our backup center. Which means the JMax center days are done, Theo aint resigning, and WH is probably gone. The only thing that will make think that this isn't the worst move JD has ever done, even worse than the Rodney White drafting would be if either Wallace or JMax is gone in an imminent trade, and Joe had to get a center, even if it was Kwame. YouTube - Kwame Brown, Fan Favorite.
OK, OK, Kwame Brown is Piston... I have a few questions... Where will this put Amir? Traded maybe? Same with JMax. We definitely have a backup center who plays defense and its not Theo Ratliff. And it's Kwame Brown....Kwame Brown. Sheed should not and will not get traded unless we get real value and close to his game and that's like non-existent right now. As some of you guys posted, unless it's Dwight Howard or Amare. Thinking about it, I do hope Brown resurrects his name and game in Detroit. But to those of you thinking, Detroit is a less-pressure place to play in, I'd be inclined to think that the pressure was nearly non-existent for him in Memphis.
Yep, that my guess. This might stop JMAX sliding between 4-5 when the big trade goes down. Not unless you can image a youngster without some mental damage done by the brutality he absorbed in LA.
Yay!! Something is happening in Pistonsland!!!!! When I logged back into the forum and there were 54 unread posts in about 10 minutes I KNEW something was happening! I am positively giddy that the waiting is over. I don't even care that it's not a blockbuster deal. The waiting is finally over!!! <----Frolicking
The signing of Kwame Brown shifts the balance of power in the NBA. Actually, when Brown plays starter minutes (e.g., 30), he averages over a double-double. It's easy to dump on a guy's numbers when he is only playing 10-20 minutes.
I like the move, it means Theo is gone. Guy has limitations "hands", but not many of them. I think Joe will try to learn him that he'll need to be a Big Ben/ Reggie Evans type player in this league, even if it's only for 12 to 20 mins a game. Plus he's a real good body/athlete to throw at Brand and KG. Can Muscle and move with both of them.
Would you do Tay plus Max for Smith plus filler (BYC) to Atl now? I probably would. Biedrins for Sheed? How much would Sheed flourish in that system?
Listening to The LA radio announcers just a few minutes ago, they are now saying that Kwame was good low post defender and although they laughed initially at the Pistons for signing him they admittedly said they could have used him in the Boston series... They said that Phil and Rambis just didn't like his work ethic...then again maybe it was the Birthday cake incident They also made some negative comments about Sheed indicating he is over paid based on his production the last two years.....no wonder some or maybe a lot of teams might pass on a Sheed trade.
Does anyone remember Perkins owning the paint last year? This helps end that. Also, it gives Joe insurance if he trades away Max or Amir to get Smith, Artest, etc. I like the move. 4 million a year is nothing and a two year deal nothing either.
Yesh I was off for awhile too and there were so many posts, I thought it was an old thread someone had ressurrected or it was from the stupid trade thread. But I actually like the signing it interms of getting a young BIG body. He was a good fantasy player the season before last...before he got hurt that is...
That's funny %%%%, look at Dalembert's, LaFrentz', and Mark Blount's deals. Not so much. Sheed is also making 3 mill less than Zach Randolf and the same as Eddy Curry.
Re: Pistons sign Kwame Brown 8 mil over 2 years This, in my opinion, is a pretty good signing. Mediocre center, but he's better than a lot of other options. I like it. Worse hands than Nazr, but a very good post-defender. There's only one basketball, so it's not like we have to rely on post-scoring from him. This is a Joe-type signing.
What is it about being 7 feet tall that makes GMs swoon and throw money at them even if they are just marginally talented? Kwame Brown has the same stone hands that plagued Nazr and he's almost a liability on offense. Where is it written you need a true center anyways? Me no likey this signing. I would rather have developed Cheikh Samb and give him minutes, he is going to be a human fly swatter and he's got lots of upside and could be the center of the future. Kwame is just another in a long line of overrated lottery picks (i.e. Shawn Bradley, William Bedford) that happen to be really tall. Meanwhile Phoenix got the steal of the free agents snagging Matt Barnes, that guy would have been awesome in a Pistons uniform.
