Agreed. dozero, I don't think this team can run. They don't have a PG who can run a fast break. They have a PG who will pull up for a 3 pointer on a 3 on 1.
At this point, let's tank it and try to rebuild through next year's draft. Obviously if we're going to get back there, it's going to be with a few guys on rookie deals at the very least.
Don't read there. Your brain will melt. I'm sure there are people on the mlive forums who believe that Ben is satan. There is a reason why a place like this exists. We try to stay calm, intelligent and insightful.
He's not satan. Money has a lot of power now. I of course hope Bens time with the Bulls is hell and he regrest leaving us.
They did both play for Pitino, so they know his system. Nazr won a championship with UK. That team also had Fatoine and Tony Delk.
We also had a big that didn't get the ball on the break because he wasn't a good finisher or free throw shooter. What was and what is often differs. Something tells me Joe isn't done.
He can't be. Unless Joe's sure that the remaining 5 core players will come back with a vengeance, we have no shot. We also have valuable players in their prime who can contribute. No sense in holding on to them when they have no trade value.
I haven't really studied Nazr Mohammed's game, but I do know that everytime he came into a game against us, I perked up and felt that he was a consistently weak link in the Spurs chain, on both ends of the court. And even I, being a novice basketball fan back then, noticed that his hands are horrible. He would have been my last choice for our center. I would have chosen to go for some rotation involving Cato/JMax and anyone else to throw in there as a stopgap measure and get a backup point guard for Chauncey that really can run the offense. Oh well, the best laid plans of a fan. Sigh. P.S. Oh God why for so many years this Nazr guy?
The Pistons (or any other NBA team, for that matter) aren't making personnel decisions based on input from their players. That's why general managers, advanced scouts and coaches get paid.
Bill ~ KG is consulting in Minny, and Carmelo Anthony is going to start working with the front office regarding player personnel in Denver. The Spurs have taken tremendous advantage of Manu Ginobili's Euroleague experience. Heck, even the Pistons took advice from Darko when he pleaded for a trade to Orlando. I believe his exact words were, "Send Darko to warm place. With beach and hot beaches.", "Darko just vant to sunbathe"
HAHAHAHA Yeah, too bad for Darko, we traded him with Arroyo instead of some suntan lotion. .... or maybe we did, and that's why Flip got so sunburnt in Miami. (<< what a #$%^ loser!)
Mohammed was pursued by other teams, by the way. He turned down a 4-year contract extension from the Spurs. The Bulls were looking at him before the Ben signing. Danny Ferry of the Cavs was looking to replace Drew Gooden with Mohammed. Source: http://www.hoopsvibe.com/nba_blog/nazr_mohammed_linked_to_the_chicago_bulls-ar32432.html
We all saw last years finals: SA and Detroit. We all had a very good look at Nasr. He is slow and has little or no game. Sa didn't even play him against Dallas in the playoffs. This is more disappointing than losing Ben. At least one could say that Ben asked for too much. No excuse for this signing. Worse, Nasr is signed for 5 years!!!!!! We are even sacrificing our future. I would rather have Davis and whoever for a year and then re-group. I can't believe this signing.
