I'm not too fond of this news. Why is it that just because he is the HC that he can lite a fire under this group. Where was he during the playoffs? Couldn't he inspire the team to play as an assistant?

Time will tell if this is a good move or not.

Well, its the Head Coach who calls the shots, which was Flip Saunders, and apparentley, the team didnt respect him enough.

This move is growing on me, never had anything against Curry being appointed Head Coach, my concern was just a lack of coaching experience, although I'm starting to think, maybe this is for the best? I'm interested to see what kind of style of play Curry will bring to the table, and hopefully the younger guys will start seeing alot more playing time.

Don't like the move, but when you are just an average team who will care right?

We have been spoiled, it is not going to be fun returning to being just an average team. It was fun while it lasted.

Even Curry himself wasn't sure how good he will be. There is a pretty good chance that one year assistant's experience might not be enough...So this is risky move but it is justfied after 3 years of playing safe.

Couldn't we have waited until the finals were over before we made the announcement? After all, if the Celtics sweep or win 4-1, Phill might be available again.

Then again Tom Thibodeau may have been a better candidate if the Celtics would have allowed him to interview...after all we lost Woodson after the Pistons won in 04.

I don't know about this. I feel like I don't have enough info to even have an opinion.

Hopefully Joe did his due diligence and Curry is going to be a gem.

Sounds to me like Dumars hired his buddy, basically giving his buddy 7.5 million dollars. Good friend, poor GM.

What can us fans do. Boycott.

Boycott the team until we actually see youth being played.

And if Dumars tears the team apart just to give Curry a built in excuse to lose, boycott the team until a winning team is in place.

Personally, I will not be going to any games until I see Joe Dumars is actually keeping his word to us fans about such things as Amir Johnson playing.

What if Joe Dumars says things will be different. What if Curry says Amir will play? So what. I won't believe anything anymore from Dumars until I see it. And believe anything Curry says? Why?

Lee what happens if Joe is forced to trade Amir in some big package? ...Does that mean you boycott all future Piston games ...until Amir comes to the Palace to play the Pistons?

I know Curry was on your all hate team with Hunter, Atkins, Ham and a few others but we got to support them at least on TV and radio. But I am with you, I don't agree with the decision to hire him either.

I'm fine with the Curry hiring, although I don't know much about him.

Then again...I was fine with the Flip hiring three years ago. :nerd2:

I guess we'll see how it works out. I do remember a couple times during the playoffs though where during a timeout Curry would pull a player to the side and it looked like he was all fired up, so I doubt he will be scared to tell it like it is. It's a gamble, but it might just payoff. Hey at least we won't be seeing the famous Flip timeout, where he would call a timeout and confer with the assistant coaches at the foul line. Anyone remember that? Haha

I like how Joe denies the rumor and says that he will interview different coaches. No one is reported to come in for interviews and then bam! Curry happens.
I like the move. Joe's not going to bring in a friend just to fail and also, if there is a measure of trust, Curry can play young guys and not feel like he is measured by regular season wins. I don't expect us to deal more than one piece. I'd like to keep Sheed but he's got the best value with his contract and ability.

Good thing about this is he will not have to waste 1/2 of the season learning the players.
