It was a good trade for us and a good trade for them. Will it make us better this year. Maybe and maybe not. Does it free up cap space yes. That is the essence of the trade. We gave up a guy that we didn't use for two guys that we probably won't use very much about the same in total minutes as Nazmo.
On further reflection I think this is the start of a long line of Amir being on the inactive list. What minutes he was getting will go to Herrmann, who instantly becomes the best 3-point shooter the Pistons have had in many years (at least if last year's numbers are to be believed). And I think Flip has always wanted a reliable 3-point shooter.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Primoz stinks. And Hermann is broken. Nazr is a huge upgrade over Brezec. The question is, considering all of the tragedy that Hermann has gone through, will he ever get his will back to play. It must have been obvious to Charlotte, that it wouldn't happen there, but when you look at Flip's treatment of the 2nd tier in the past, I can't see how it happens here. If the change in scenery does work, you have to wonder what happens to Amir? Hermann is a clear upgrade over Jarvis, so you have to consider his days numbered; but Hermann plays the 4 in addition to the 3. AJ just got pushed back one more spot on the depth chart.
Someone has to be in the street clothes. My vote goes for Flip Jr. However, Flip Sr. may think otherwise. That worries me.
Do think they might cut one of them? Primoz could be a good insurance policy but I can't see how we could use Wally. Lot of lettuce for Davison to go for both being cut but even that could be a possibility. I would love to see Samb brought up to form a nice spot bench unit with Amir. But they could even bring Webber on board. We will see. Very interesting possibilities. This definetly has raised my interest a bit in the Pistons. Nice to know Dumars is not asleep at the wheel - was starting to wonder.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Primo waived. He's beyond worthless. Contract year, and he averaged 2 and 2 for Charlotte? :deadhorse
I really do not know much about either of them. Not too impressed with Wally the one time I saw him. My ideal ( and somewhat uninformed opinion ) would be to see both them cut and Amir/Samb getting into the mix. I still love what I saw the one time we saw both of them play extended mins together. There was a lot of potential there.
Me too. But it could be very short lived. I have no confidence at all in "that coach". But yeah, it's piqued my curiosity.
I wouldn't say Hermann is an upgrade over Hayes. WH has scored > 6 points twice this year. Interesting to note though that he won the Argentinian slam dunk contest 2 straight years. Who is the better pick up here, Hrrmnn or Brzc?
Not mine. Giving AJ one minute tonight was a slap in the face. Got to hand to AJ he knows how to show great restraint in public, at least so far.
For bobcats fans he was their softest player and their forums were truly happy of getting rid Primoz. I mean, softest player in a weak team...How soft can somebody be? Yup, bobcats fans really miss Hermann, a solid bench player.
Primo had such a great year and such weak ones since. Was there an injury there? Did he quit juicing? It seems like once you get it in the NBA, you don't just lose it like that. Also, he started almost every game down there. If they were showcasing him, why not feed him the ball more? I guess we'll see.
Have to keep in mind that the main intent of the deal was to dump Mohamed's salary. I think Dumars would have traded him for a 6-pack of beer if that were possible. Mohamed also should be a better fit for the Cats. I hope it works out for him.
It doesn't help the Pistons any to waive Primo right now. Joe talked highly of him in the press conference. Unless Brezec has a bad attitude, you at least sit him in street clothes and keep him around for injury insurance.
Yeah, keep him til Feb and mayb JoeD would bring Webber back. Bringing Webber back would be a good idea. Good idea in the sense than keeping him away from the Celts.
Got to give Joe credit? for trying to fit in two more players with a non-American basketball background. My guess is that both will be gone before next year.
OK, after lurking on the Cha boards, I guess I'm convinced the Herrmann is the better of the two. Looks like he went on a tear at the end of last year and hasn't had the chance to show that again since. Brezec was OK once, had a back injury and some other excuses and seems to be lost now. One thing I didn't know was Herrmann's tragic past. in '03 his Mom, younger sister, and fiance were all killed in a car crash. Then, a year later, his Dad died of a heart attack. That's some rough stuff. Any Piston's fans heckle this guy, they should be escorted out of the building.
