The Pistons are expected to complete the hiring of Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach John Kuester later Tuesday, NBA coaching sources told ESPN.com.
Kuester became the Pistons' top candidate after Avery Johnson broke off contract talks after more than two days of negotiations.

    Ugh....

My absolute least favorite choice of all the options.

    Another panic move.

I have a feeling Kuester will be another version of Curry.
Get ready for another clueless coach in charge of your Pistons.

He is brilliant at the art of strategery...

Lebron, just drive right at Tayshaun and dunk it again. They are afraid of you.

I'm sure Kuester is pretty pumped about being the 3rd choice, getting a small salary, knowing that he can't affect roster composition, and being about 99% sure that he will be replaced by a big name coach as soon as he gets us back to the playoffs (I'm not being sarcastic either, this is a huge opportunity for him).

Kuester is Rick Carisle version 2.0...

He DOES have 18+ years in the NBA.

And the Cavs did look a *little better... except for in the playoffs, of course. But that offensive improvement could have just been from having a better PG in Mo Williams.

The Cleveland fans have to devastated right now. I feel no sympathy for them whatsoever.

WE GOT KUESTER! What are you gonna do about it??

I'm going to go troll around on their boards for the rest of the day and rub it in.

hey! do not be here so negative! I quickscrolled through Cavs forums and believe or not, they are extremely SERIOUSLY pissed off. I was surprised how depressed they were.

It means that Kuester did a good job there. Fans are usually hypercritical.

btw, knowledgeable fans in cavs mention Dice-Kuester connections and they speculate that Kuester as head coach might affect Dice's decision to stay for one more year in Deroit positively.

We should have no problem dispatching Cleveland next season as we should know all of their plays.

I fully expect a return to the ECFs.

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John Dewitt Kuester Jr.[1] (pronounced: QUE-ster[2]) (born February 6, 1955, in Richmond, Virginia) is a retired American professional basketball player. He was a 6'2" (188 cm) 180 lb (82 kg) guard and played collegiately with the University of North Carolina Tar Heels from 1973–77.[3][4] He played in the NBA from 1977 to 1980. He is reportedly the new head coach of the NBA's Detroit Pistons.

Wow, how did Wikipedia get that news so fast?

That's what I was thinking too. At least this Kuester guy will have SOME legit strategies for stopping LeBron since you know, he coached him for a few years . .
But in my mind, Thibadeau was the guy for the job after Avery turned it down. He was the brains behind that stunning Boston championship defense of 2008.
