He wil be good with this people if he hires Laimbeer as an assistant. ;)
LOL, this guy Xs and Os will be "Step 1: Pass the ball to Ben Gordon. Step 2: Look back at Step 1."
We don't have a Lebron.
*won't be surprised if he gets fired in 2-3 years*
If I knew this was going to happen, I would have told Dumars to just keep Curry. At least we would be teaching our future possible coaches that we will support you even when you suck.
Let's bring in Sam Mitchell.
I wonder what kind of bull Dumars is going to come up with at the intro news conference. Can you imagine the Pistons players faces when they got that load of news?
^ LOL. Very funny.
You don't mean that Gordon and Villueneva will renege on their verbal agreements do you??
Is the reasoning for the hire of this "offensive genius" of a coach due to the lack of defensive players on this team?
Why fire Flip at all???
Naaaaa. They know he will only be around a year.
Maybe we will hear that he was hired on the condition that Bill Laimbeer will be an assistant. Then Dumars will give him the torch when he is ready. That sounds like a plan.
:::spitting my green tea:::
Pro - He helped teach the '04 Pistons to play the right way under Larry Brown.
Con - He was the Head Coach for George Washington University and lead his team to a 1-27 season just missing an NCAA tournament birth.
Rumor has it John will be getting paid $100 per victory and also two free seats in the nose bleed section. Plus 5 bucks for cleaning up the locker room each night.
Advice to John. Remember it takes at least three years to recoup closing costs on buying a house. I'm sure you will come out ahead if you rent.
First reaction is very good humor... and resignation,i hope we don´t have other novice curry coach.
If we have one second level coach, why not give a chance for Laimbeer as coach assistant?...dumards has reasson not compromising all hopes in a four year contract for an elite coach meanwhile we are begining first summer full rebuilding, but is a mistake don´t give bill one chance to begin in nba as assistant, very bad JoeD
Might as well trust Joe's instincts.
Remember that good and sure coaches don't just become available. And guys like Collins and Johnson are retreads for a reason.
And as for Bill, most of the desire here is coming from a FAN perspective. There was a time where people thought Alan Trammell would make a good manager too.
And from a GM perspective...
There was a time where Joe D. thought Michael Curry would make a good manager.
He was wrong more recently than we were.
I'm down with the Q-ster though. At least it seems like he is an X's and O's guy.
All I can say is I'll be disappointed if Laimbeer isn't named an assistant coach.
Don't hold your breath on this one.
The guys onESPN's Around the Horn had not got the memo yet.
Woody was pining for Bill Laimbeer as was Tim Colishaw. Marriotti said that Bill needs to be assistant first.
LA Times beat writer Bill Plasche says Joe should stop hatin on the Lakers, get over the bad-boy-bad-blood and hire one of the laker assistant coaches> Kurt Rambis or Brian Shaw who have multiple rings and experience working for Riley and Jackson. He also said that most NBA players don't respect the WNBA players or coaches and that is why Laims won't get a head coaching job......
