I think they are intriguing. The veteran coaches say a lot or a little, but typically show disrespect to the interviewer, which communicates to me that they are more into the game. Flip would try to validate his gameplan, and Curry treated it like a 15 minute sitdown interview. I like to see coaches get excited about how their team is playing (show an edge) or disdain for the reporter, which could be showing concern and focus. I like the whole show. Coaches, hallway coach. I'm getting too old to have a favorite player, what I like now is the whole game experience from tip off to final buzzer. The clownish theatrics of refs physically exaggerating calls, fans dancing, the bench high fiving, who sits next to who, whether the coach goes sideline, or walks on court to give his guys a rest or time with the assistants. I like that lineup, but to get Howard, we most certainly would have to let go of both Prince and Hamilton. That lineup looks a lot like the current Orlando lineup. Tons of scorers out there that can't defend with the beast in the middle.
Well said. The more I read about this guy, the more I like this hire. He has a lot more potential than Avery IMO. The fact that he was part of the '04 championship squad means a lot. Hell, he may even manage to wake up Tay. I am actually getting excited about the next season. My hopes are not high, but I think we'll be a playoff team that nobody wants to play in the 1st round. That's not bad. Not bad at all.
Pictures like i stated above LOL. I do remember a little more about him from the Cavs now that i can put a name to a face, but nothing major. It's troubling when a guy has been an assistant for this long and never gotten a look . . . In fact Tom Thibodeu has the same knock; that he's a buddy to the players not a "leader". However, his defensive philosphy alone is enoughfor me to jump on the bandwagon. I'm just not sure what this Kuester guy has to offer. His most recent claim to fame is the Cav's offense and yea . . . My instinct could definitely be wrong, but my expectations aren't high right now. I hope i'm pleasantly surprised.
Michael Curry would probably be a great replacement for Kuester over there. Those fans would probably be overjoyed to get a former NBA head coach willing to fill the assistant role for a year or two.
With that kind of money he better NOT win anything...he'll be out the door faster than you can say "Contract Negotiation."
This is true.... I'm not upset by the hiring. I have my preferences like most people. This is a whole lot different. This is a coach that (at the team's current position) deserves a wait and see. This is completely different from having a team that is competing for a title. I didn't think this team could afford to wait with regards to finding out if Flip had what it took. It's also completely different from hiring Tandoori and trying to sell us on the fact that he was ready. This will be an interesting year and I'm definitely interested in seeing if this guy has the X's and O's to get it done, as well as, if he had the coaching ability to get more out of his guys than simply what's expected.
Didn't Chuck Daly have to wait for years before he got his chance? (Not sure but I think I remember that). Anyhow, I've got an opposite feeling on this guy. I think he is going to be a really good coach for the Pistons. I'm sure we both hope I'm right. ;)
