I get that it's kind of become a cultural thing at PF.com but they actually mis-communicate what's happening with the team via the title, and then the thread gets to 5 pages without anyone being fired, and the information about the guy being fired ends up buried deep in a thread which is mostly about the guy not being fired (yet).

I think we should stop doing them.

    I welcome your feedback.

Bill Laimbeer will have to entertain us in another fashion...I have no doubt he'll succeed.
Maybe this thread can serve as a place to discuss pending terminations...........
Sad to think that we've had so many.........

I agree. I get on the edge of my seat, only to be disappointed.

I would rather that we just start a thread up about whichever person is in question. 'The Joe Dumars Thread AKA Popcorn City' or 'The Mo Cheeks Thread AKA Somebody that I used to know'

Or put "Place Holder" in the title.
Or a disclaimer for any other misleading title.

Why would we openly anticipate, with glee, the termination of a person from their job? It is not only confusing for those seeking facts, but having laughs at the expense of one's livelihood reflects poorly on Piston fans.

If you're going to make a placeholder thread, I believe something along the lines of "Pistons Make Playoffs" or "Pistons Win Championship!" would be more appropriate.

Livelihood? Monroe is on his rookie contract and is on his 4th coach already. This is ludicrous and the threads were just making fun of the situation.

    I agree it's confusing.

I like putting placeholder in the thread title.

If the Pistons had won three straight titles we would be making placeholder threads for the next one.

It would be nice if we could point new members to the actual thread when it becomes true.

It's hard to stop us from being us.

It's more about dealing with the negatives of our situation. If we weren't laughing, we'd be crying. "New coach Fired" threads are all over the internet when we hire because of our reputation. As much as I hate all the anti-dumars sentiment, I believe its important for us to express our frustration. Everyone here loves the Pistons and everyone has an opinion on how to make it better. Fired threads are irreverent and fun and ultimately criticize the way the Pistons have operated.
The bottom line is that mods will moderate threads like that from here on out.

in the end, they can be classified as self-fulfilling prophecies or, as Bertol Brecht would define them, estrangement effects.

many of you are BBall savants. you've seen stuff in your time to recognize the future timeline. maybe they should put the failsafe date in there too.
both parties can blow only so much smoke.
